It’s interesting that the new OBs are now big enough and strong enough to power a REAL 30’ vee bottom.
That was always my thing that, I knew that to go from my 24’ Sonics and now my 25’ Checkmate, w/twin OBs (2 strokes) to anything enough bigger to be worth dealing with, meant 30’ as a minimum, which I knew meant loosing 10 mph. Which I wasn’t willing to do. Now you can bolt a pair of 450r’s on a 30’ IO conversion and run the 80 mph I’m used to! It costs you a $100k to do but, 2 yrs ago you couldn’t do it at all! I like it.

The second part!
GORGEOUS Cary! Always liked those boats. Again, we’ll done sir! Have you seen my new favorite T shirt? Says: ”You bought yours, I built mine!”.

Love that quote Gary. Yeah the 2 stroke 300xs Mercs I ran the first time on my heavy old 30 v bottom were ok but the 300Rs V8 4 strokes were better. Heavier wasn't too bad because they made more torque which is important with old boats...They only ran 2-3 mph more. I paid 50k brand new in 2019..for those. The 2 strokes were 36k a few years prior. Both great 20in mids Sportmaster lowers...I struggle and love lots of different setups, but enjoy smaller single 70mph rig with more room now.

Totally agree on power.
Not everyone gets it. Thats the main reason I’ve never gone over 25’ for my twins. At that power, size and weight, at WFO (80-ish), flying it on the drain plug, it’s still hair on fire, flyin an Allison fun! Any bigger and that all changes. W/my power. W/the new motors, that all changes! Beyond my means but, now you can bolt on a pair of 450 Hp motors, self contained, w/a warranty, be 1000 lbs+ lighter, a couple hundred more HPs than when new, and have the space of a 10’ bigger boat! I think you should buy that 28 for your next project 😂🤓🤣🤪👍🏻😎
