It looks to me like they dropped it in a perfect spot to start stacking the wood for the bonfire ,

and it will only cost $60 k to restore! Then you can experience the pleasure of having $74k into a boat that's (doubtfully) worth $50k!

I always wonder if they really believed that boat would ever get put in the water again when they put it there. Imagine looking at that eyesore for years thinking it was either going to get repaired (for $$$$) or sold at the end for $1400? Lets say it sells for $500 and it sat for 10 years. So you look at that knowing after 10 years that baby was accruing $1 a week towards the final sale price!

Maybe it was a great boat for 10 years prior, then you have 10 years worth of stories, trophy catches that you can relive when someone asks about that turd in the yard......

The one against the building wall looks like a Mirage 9M-SS. Used to own a staggered version of this.

The Myco under the other boat appears to be in way better condition than the Eagle. And a word of caution on older Eagles from somebody who knows, check the cross members for rot.

Wharton

Appears to be a closed down shop.
Not sure what else is inside.
I heard there is a wood cruiser rotting away.

In a tiny farm town.

Agree, theres a guy on here looking for that bow rail for his boat

Twin O/B Sonic 12-15-2019 07:06 PM

I don’t think it’s owned by a Boden anymore.

I call on an auto repair shop a mile away who says the buildings full of crap and the owner does no more biz out of it.

Ive been passed it a dozen times in the last few mnths and seen no sign of life.
And yes I watch for it.
Curious to what’s inside the bldg.

He has a cruiser on the other side of building.

Another overpriced pile of golden ****
38' Wellcraft Scarab less motors and drives. This boat is a rare "muscle boat" A true Kaama hull that solid. No soft spots. Stripes were stripped off and bottom is sanded for refinish. floor was cut out to be replaced.
I don't have the space or time anymore to complete my dream boat.

I also, for sale, have two 500 hp Blue motors, Stelling headers, CMI exaust silencers with air piston baffles. Arneson 16" drop boxes. second effort surface drives with transmissions.
All were collected to build this boat, price is negotible for the drive parts.

These boats are near impossible to find. they dominated the racing scene late 70's and 80's

Yeah, 20k is a "bit" optimistic. Unfortunately that thing needs to be stripped completely down to the stringers, tear the whole cabin out, all the way down to a bare hull and start over. Turn it into this! With that said...OAF, that's gonna take a lot of coin.

If that is a LS Scarab (which it looks like from the width of the hatch vents) you'll never turn a Wellcraft into a LS Scarab. The person who will come the closest is Heath with the rebuild he is doing on his Scarab.

Too Stroked 01-24-2020 08:37 PM

Yes, that's what the ticket said. Even the judge couldn't believe it ran 97 MPH, so the charges were dropped.

phragle 01-24-2020 09:14 PM

He must have one hell of a truck to pull that thing 97.... Or the boat has those fancy 454 corvette engines, like the guy at the gas stations brother inlaw's uncle has

IGetWet 01-25-2020 07:58 AM

Marketing at its best. Such an intriguing ad... When he says “this boat was clocked at 97”, I think he means the picture of the boat was taken at 3:57pm

obnoxus 01-25-2020 11:08 AM

NO, NO,,, he meant 97 MPH ON the trailer !

rak rua 01-25-2020 07:19 PM

I think it was measured by radar, mounted on a boat coming in the opposite direction at 50 mph. The combined speed was 97, so he was doing 47. :)

CDShack 01-27-2020 01:11 PM

I think y'all are a little hasty! those look like TRS drives with CLEVERS! 97 mph may be conservative! LOL!

larslindroth 01-28-2020 01:57 AM

1979 Scarab 29.9, with TRS drives, that flies.

The most famous 29'9" Scarab runs close to 100 mph at sea level. Now this is in Liberal California, but it's verified GPS recording at 2,000' elevation is 93 mph. It's the 1979 National Performance Class champion boat P-38 Pure Insanity. Jeff Brown of Hawthorn, CA was the 1979 champ in this Team Scarab 9 Meter Kevlar49 boat. The last 20 years it's been running twin Richie Zul 383s a' 775 hp and appro. 625 ft.lb of torque due to 6-71 blowers. Got modified Mobech TRS drives and CLEAVERS!

Back to the Craigslist Scarab in Dallas. The rumor has it that the owner is an old buddy, since the 1950s, of the late Carroll Shelby, so he knows a thing or two about marketing. However my guts tells me it's got some serious power and if I was a Texan and in the market for a project? Well, he at least would have made me curious. All that glitters is NOT gold, but there are diamonds in the rough and he who seeks finds. ;)
