My good buddy Mike posts on Facebook that he has these little RC cats for sale. I figured a new hobby may be a nice stress reliever. I always wanted one of these electric cats.
Mike gets me a Great deal, about $550 with batteries for a fully assembled, ready to run boat (which happens to be a great deal)!!!

I put the boat in the water and it's fast as hell.

It goes by so fast that if it was a big boat going that fast it would be doing around 200 mph.
I go by once, I go by a second time and on the 3rd pass I turn the wheel on the remote the wrong way and I crash into my neighbors dock across the canal.
It hit so hard it flew back about 5 feet and shut off.

We are at the intersection of 2 canals so there is a strong current. The boat is drifting under the bridge.

Now I have to figure how I'm going to get this boat.
Only choice is to go swim for it. I take my socks off and I notice a guy in a kayak coming. As he gets close, I pick up the baby and yell to the Kayaker,
"Can you get my daughters boat for me"??

He looks at the boat and says, "Your daughters"??? I guess he didn't buy it since she's not even 2.

I get the boat and Look at the damage (which is not too bad) and put it away.

Now, On thing I learned is these boats don't come with chargers for the batteries!

I do some checking on line and buy a really nice one off eBay for $350 and pay for it.
After waiting 3 days, without it showing up, I go back to the guys eBay page and now it says "On vacation until July 17, all purchases shipped then".

What a dick!

Annoyed, I order another one on line because I don't want to wait for the one I bought. Another $390 with shipping.

My wife says "if your going to play with that boat, you better get a kayak so you can get it back."

I go to Sports authority and buy a Kayak $499, paddles $50 and tip the guys $20 to put it on my suv.

driving home, I hear a noise and the 2 plastic seats flew out. I turn around, and go back for them. One got ran over and broken, one was ok.
I head home.

The 2nd charger shows up and, I'm so excited, I can't wait to get the batteries charged. I start watching YouTube videos. First thing it says is you need a power supply for this charger! WTF??!!

Off to Radio shack for a power supply $85.

I watch more videos to learn how to program it. You need to set How many cells, volts, amperage, and about 6 other things. You need to work at Nasa to know what the hell they are talking about.

I Get it programmed, go to hook up the leads to the batteries and the ends on the leads are different then the ones on the batteries. There are these little plugs called "I now know are called Deans plugs" that do not come with the charger. I'm so mad I can't see straight.

I go on line to find an RC store. I drive to Boca (about 15 miles) and the hobby store is closed on Saturdays.(Are the F#@king kidding?) I look up another hobby store and it's in Plantation (30 miles) and head there.

I find my Deans plus and they are only $10 each. Yayyy

Drive home, hook up my deans plugs, turn it on AND............ "Battery not connected properly"!!!! Read the manual and watched videos for 2 hours.
The piece of crap, does not work!

I dumped all the crap in a big box and threw it in the garage.

So, I'm into my new hobby for about $2,000. and wasted about 12 hours!

Been a while since we had a good gino story, for a second I thought it was going to end with you buying a turbine powered r/c catamaran, and on its first trip out got to such high speeds it took off and the CAA got involved.

Whatever you do don't by a drone. Actually in a perverse way please do!

Welcome to the wonderful world of RC. I have 1 car, 3 trucks, 4 planes, 2 helicopters and 3 boats. It's kinda addicting and I could have a real boat for all I've didn't on these damn things!!!

You just can't make this stuff up. Too funny!

Gino in a kayak......what could go wrong?

boat gets stranded, Gino gets into the kayak, bangs his head on the dock, has his new phone in his lap, tips over, was previously winding his Rolex but left the crown popped up so his new Rolex gets salt water in it, the R/C boat hit the neighbors seawall and is taking on water, Gino gets back in the kayak but left blood in the water from the head shot he took from the dock, now a pack of bull sharks are surrounding the kayak but he lost his cell phone in the flip, neighbors lawn crew is cutting the grass so Gino's cries for help aren't heard, the R/C boat sunk, the tide is going out, Gino is being pulled away from the dock and he has lost his paddle...........:D

All in all, it sounds like a pretty good couple days.

I will be there in 8 hours to pickup the MTI. Your captians license is revolked. Stay away from the water until I arrive Dammit! If you try to drive the MTI with the remote so help me...........

I hope the little miniature "RC" driver and navigators are ok. LMAO. Good stuff Gino. We have the same luck, if it moves, electric, internal combustion, cost $. fun to have, it WILL give us headaches. Our middle name is "Murphy". His law for ever stuck. Ergo: "PARADOX" .. Life is, what happens when you plan something else. I bought the little scooter to run around the docks and hotels. Battery replacement, and charger? Not on this planet, pull starter and chord? Some place in Borneo, for the cost of a Lambo. So it sits, :( collecting dust in the garage. I think your RC boat needs company.

I race RC buggies/trucks in the off season, it is a pricy hobby but very addicting. Enjoy your new toy.

It makes me feel good to here this to let me know other people have days like this and that I am not the only one. THANK YOU.

Gino, I know your canal. Just run the boat in the opposite direction of the tide from your house. At least that way you limit the distance to retrieve it. Just wait for the tide to bring it back closer to you.

Yep...you think its bad now...wait until you learn the ins and outs of actually driving one of these puppies. I been doing the boats and helicopters for a while....the boats are much more safer and easier to use...not much damage, not on my end anyhoo...lol. The first helicopter I picked up was about $780, had an entire 40 second flight time, hit the remote to go up and it climbed out of sight, lost signal, then did a nose dive on the cement drive....never flew again. I want a turbine r/c boat baddddddddd.

All I can say is Thank You Gino. We all live vicariously through your exploits and it always brings a smile. I also think it is great how you can laugh at yourself and just move on. :)

URGENT ! Gino do not buy a crowbar,because you will find a way to break it.
