Donzi Classic or Cigarette 20: Berkeley Jet??
Were either of these boats ever offered as a jet boat option?
I recently acquired a 20' jet boat, and absolutely love it. I've got a 17' outboard cat that I will probably end up selling, and would consider one of the title mentioned boats as a jet boat. I live across the street from a river (more like a large ditch), but down about 10 miles or so it opens up such that 25 foot or so boats, some outboard go-fasts, and a ton of wake/ski boats run around. If I decide to sell the catamaran, I would consider something with the sleek lines of a classic Cigarette or Donzi in the 20' or under size range; just so I could go out near the house like I do with the jet boat now. The river is pretty shallow, and the tide swings the depth by as much as 2-3 feet pending the moon pattern. Any info is appreciated, thanks. |
Update: quick research mentioned on a thread here on OSO that there were 2 Cigaratte 20s that were jets; one owned by "offshoredrillin" & being rerigged as an I/O.

Look for a python or vector

Brian - I'm not sure you're man enough for a boat with a "1" on it.......

I believe there were a few Donzi Classics that came with factory jet drives. I would go ask your question on donzi.org . There are many people over there that will be able to tell you exactly how many were made and anything you want to know about them.

there is a Donzi with a Berkley jet on craigslist Ft Myers down here.

Rob definitely has a 20 he has been working on for some time now. He's shared lots of the details with me, but can't for the life of me remember any details about it being a jet at one time. I'll send him a text asking him to reply to this thread and help clarify if possible.

Robs boat definitely had a factory jet on it. Bobby Saccenti told me he actually remembered rigging the boat while he was working for Don. Also verified the original hull color before I told him what it was leading me to believe it was one of the few factory equipped 20 jets. When I did the bottom of the boat and transom you could see the old repair and the stringers were also set on much closer centers.

That particular hull looks a bit awkward with the jet set up, but I do like it. I think the Donzi 18' would be perfect. |

If I can get Pat to dust off the 22' Active Thunder mold, I may have to go with that; as a straight bottom. |
Donzi with I/O over Cigarette jet drive my 02!

Now we are talking! This looks slick:
I don't want another I/O. I don't want to worry about the shallow water and stumps where I plan to run this boat. If that Placecraft above were closer, I'd be really serious about putting my ZZ502 in it. |
http://joplin.craigslist.org/boa/4541825200.html - Some kind of Donzi clone jet
http://tricities.craigslist.org/boa/4513702554.html - Donzi jet...not sure model...might be a GT-21 http://cnj.craigslist.org/boa/4500079897.html - Sutphen 20 jet minus power |
Stumbled on this:
http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/boa/4544664656.html 24x7 Python with a 454/jet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RObdALsLRMk It's kind of cool actually, but not something I'd want. |
