Life Of Serpentine Belt On 525
Mine still looks fine at near 300 hours. Should I replace it as maintenance. Do you guys carry a spare belt?
|
Yes to both questions.
|
Replace the belt and keep old one as spare.
|
Get a new one and keep the old one as a spare, and swap them out each time you switch. I generally do mine each year, not so much that they wear out but being under tension in winter and not moving tends to "form" them.

All the above ^^^

OK, thanks. Makes sense to replace it and keep the old one as a spare. I do rotate the engine periodically with a socket in the off season so that the same valve springs are not compressed too long. The boat stays indoors and uncovered. I'll get a new belt on there soon. Anyone know the cheapest place to buy one? :)

NAPA, they are made by gates, best belts out there period.
|
Awesome. Thanks.

I'm just getting around to this as part of my winter maintenance. Does anyone know the NAPA part #? If not I guess I'll just see if they can match it up.

x2 anyone know the part number? Just purchased a boat with these engines and would like to carry a spare.
