Some input please!!

So the wife is really bugging me to get a cruiser!! I have a hard time getting out of the performance look so I found a 38 Fountain Express cruiser anybody have some input on this boat?? Also any other boats you can think of?? The boat has to have a bed in the aft part of the cabin!!

LAriverratt 07-17-2014 03:43 PM

formula SS models. 37 or 40. some have 525's. real nice lots of room. I looked at them before buying my sunsation.

If you are staying below 40ft I would look at the Donzi 39. That's a nice boat or the 40 Formula SS. Also the Sunseeker.

ratman 07-17-2014 05:13 PM

really you should post up some pics of the wife, we'll let you know if you should get a cruiser, or keep your perf boat...

SummerObsession 07-17-2014 07:59 PM

Formula. You can still call a dealer and get parts.
Haven't heard many good things about Fountain cruisers, other than they are fast. I thought a 48 EC with diesels and surface drives would be cool. A former owner told me otherwise. Just hearsay, passing along what was told to me.

If you would have bought a fountain in the first place she might not want any other boat ;)

you can buy a older searay in the 35 foot range for around 30 k if you look ..they are good old boats..

Speedracer29 07-18-2014 05:52 AM

You did inform her of the fact that cruisers have full kitchens, right? That stopped the cruiser conversation dead in its tracks at our house, your mileage may vary.

donzi matt 07-18-2014 06:47 AM

My 32 Regal has been an extremely solid boat and very well built. With 454's and bravo 3's it runs 50 on GPS and does have an aft bed, bathroom, and kitchen. You can buy clean examples for short money at this point, the lines are timeless (in my opinion), and you could possibly afford to keep your boat as well. To be honest, as much fun as I have on my Formula, a day out on the cruiser is equally enjoyable and we spend more days on the water from morning to evening with it.

That is bad AZZ. Don't see too many cruiser throwing a rooster tail, and imagine the looks on guys faces as you blow past them in what equates to a small ship.:evilb:

ratman 07-18-2014 01:51 PM

there was a badazz magnum for sale recently, with big disels and arneson surface dives. i think it went mid 50s or better, 45ft as i recall that would be best of both worlds

32 Active Thunder 07-18-2014 02:46 PM

Well if anybody has a cruiser they wanna trade shoot me a pm or text me I'll take a look 608-449-4992 Jason

lmfao...

ratman 07-18-2014 09:59 PM

here is a 38 magnum its the best of both worlds. 125k is a little pricer for the age but there are a number of them out there. i bet it has a pretty good range with diesels, cats last forever, and can be tweaked for a little more power... i saw a similar magnum that was 44 or 45 ft for 65k i think it was, with arenesons and diesel power. these are some nice solid riding well made boats, and low maint with the diesels..

here is a 40 ft magnum arnesons and detroit 692a 199k

sweet looking magnum 50 for 450k

here is a 53 magnum for 149k, nice boats, high quality throughout... id take one of these over a mediocre built sea ray or fountain cruiser anyday. magnums are classy boats...

you have got to be kidding triple i/o gasoline engines with bravos? vs twin inboard diesels... wake up man.

my father has had big sport fish boats with diesels for 25 years... never has he replaced an engine, genset, or transmission... never!

he goes from balto in to florida, than all over the bahamas fishing for 3 months then up to maine and nova scocia then to balto then floriida and has done this loop for 15 years and uses the boat daily... he replaces every impeller in every engine and genset water pump twice a year so they work at peak efficiency, he changes his oil like clock work and carries all the oil and filters he needs and changes it when its time no mater where he is.

diesels get twice the fuel efficiency of gas and then you have the safety issues, plus diesels go thousands and thousands of hours between rebuilds if properly maintained... diesel all the way bro dont even think of going with pos gas engines in a cruiser... plus you can have the boat filled at your home and save a ton on your fuel by doing so, always keep the tanks topped off if the boat is ever going to sit, so you wont have algae problems in your fuel tanks. and change your fuel filters out when your egt's start to go up... werd
