After learning the screen name SVL WARLOCK and not hearing that the search resumed at any point I grew suspicious. I wonder if he was even on that pontoon boat at all? Or was he safely dropped off at shore before perhaps deliberately crashing the boat?

I did't see the good news in that story.

For his family, the good news would be he is alive and well.
As for the rest of it, I don't think anyone would want to have to read this about someone from the sport of offshore.

Dead and the family grieves and suffers, alive and they get to deal with the trial, jail time and all the things that come with it. I am probably to old and jaded to see the upside of the alive portion.

I see a few flaws in the scheme:

1. Disappearing today is much harder than say 1970s (computers killing most of stealth moves with bank accounts, criminal warrants at anyone's finger tips). Also being well known in racing circuits is going to make it harder to blend in!
2. Unless you have a lot of money (millions) stashed this isn't going to last long or you are planning to live like Ratman living as Escobar Jr in Columbia on 14 cents a day!
3. Having a young accomplice is going to be trouble, the kid will crack under questioning (or may already have).

yeah, weak link for sure. He would have been better off just crashing the boat on his own and leave the kid out of it, unless he duped the kid from the crash to the splash....meaning the kid really didn't know he was planning to disappear.

I met the guy once. He seemed really nice and took me and my family out on his boat. It was a 23' Eliminator V.

The Rescue Crews put themselves in harms way to quickly locate someone (hopefully alive). Helicopters, powerboats, manpower all over the water. Honorable people performing a service for those in immediate need. That being said, if this situation is a found to be a hoax (as authorities suspect), I hope the penalty is severe and non negotiable! That's the way I look at it.

I believe there is severe penalties with a deployed search and rescue. Typically will even have to repay all expenses and those CG choppers are not cheap to fly ..... $$$$$$ But you can't get blood from a stone.......

I had my boat at the dump of a marina. The forklift got repossessed and he just kept lying to everyone about the situation,
He told me OSHA took the lift, told others the motor blew, or the hydraulics went out. I got my boat out just in time.
I can't believe how bad they were ripping of people. I can't wait to see them both in jail.

I agree with you! It was MY boat he used in this '' alleged" accident. He took my brand new boat for service almost 2 years ago and never gave it back to us. We are still paying for that boat! He and Tracy have so many lawsuits against them. I can't wait until they find Andy!
