99 Checkmate 280 water intake

1999 Checkmate ZT280 with a 502 MPI. It has a raw water pump. Does it have a water grate under the boat to feed the raw water pump or does it start from a impeller driven water inlet in the outdrive?

should be a raw water pump attached to the block thats belt driven. water pick up thru the outdrive, no impeller in the outdrive itself.
