Do they still run the Lamborghini engines in Class-1 ? I thought everybody was going over to the Seatek Desiel Stuff ? How many support classes do they run with the Class-1 Boats ? All we ever hear about are the big boys.

I really miss the Class 1 races that used to be on Speedvision. They had some great shows that clearly even for me, described the workings and technical aspects of the boats. Plus the venues truly looked like great places.

Is the American team still there?

Here is a video capture I took last year.. I have many video captures.

Very cool pictures. Glad you are on the board. I am learning a lot about your country!

Rumrunner:
this is supposed to be the last year for lambos ans seateks.
new regulations were :
maximum 510 cu.in V-8 engines
maximum 40' length boat

reason is some of the teams started to race with 10+ mil. dollar budgets.there is no competition for the moment . to keep the performances near they had to make new limitations and they did.

(sometimes first team overlaps the second team after 6 laps.)

well there is no support class under class-1 organization. It is an event by itself.Class 1 boats run alone.no other class. But local boat clubs organize small races at the same weekend.

there are also class2 and class 3 races exist but organised by other organizations at different dates .they also follow Uim rules & regulations.

RumRunner 08-24-2002 09:24 AM

Sounds like Class-1 is going through what APBA Open class went through. Not enough people with that kind of money to spend. It wound up whoever was still running at the end was the winner. Sounds like they are finally going to the similar rules as APBA SuperCat. Maybe there can be a true World Championship again in the future. It would be great to see some of those teams come over here.

timucin 08-24-2002 03:58 PM

Rumrunner: exactly!

himm..
gdfatha; I will post lots of images from the next race 8th-sept.

timucin

It would be great to see all the Class-1 boats come over here for a true world championship. It looks like APBA is getting the weight figured out between the shaft drive boats, and #6 Merc boats, so it may be an actual possibilty.

Doug.

PS. Thanks for all the great pictures keep them coming.
