Default I just ordered a QUAD 4....

Hydromotive seems to have some good policies. 10% re-stocking charge if the prop is way off. If it is the wrong pitch there is a $20.00 exchange fee. If the prop is real close and more RPM is needed they will thin the blades and cut down the diameter up to a half inch, depending on how it comes out of the hole and how many R's are needed for around a $250.00 adder. If you do the blade thinning the warranty is void and the prop is non returnable. I should be receiving the prop early next week and will promptly give it a shot. Just thought it would be refreshing to hear some positive feedback for a change. I hope the new prop rocks!!!

Wette Vette - what boat are you trying this on, is it stepped or non stepped, what kind of power, and do you have a high X. I'm just wondering because I'm thinking of giving them a try.

I will be trying a 27 4 blade on my Baja 210 Sport. The boat is a vee hull with a 4" delta pad. I am running a 2" short bravo drive, but still my "x" isn't extremely high. I would guess my motor to be putting out 680 to 700 HP naturally aspirated. My current prop is a 29" Spinelli that I turn 6100 to 6300 rpm and GPS speeds of 95 to 97.8 MPH. Hydromotive is hoping we'll see 5900 to 6000 RPM and 93 or so MPH. Then we can have the prop thinned and the dia decreased for the extra couple of hundred RPM and MPH. My Spinelli is awesome, but if I happen to bang it I'm screwed. So I will be going with Hydromotives suggestions and hopefully we can get the same speeds or at least within 2 MPH of the Spinelli. It will be good to have a spare prop that works well and can be duplicated.

Well I guess I will be getting the new prop blueprinted. We ran it this past weekend at the Hardy Party and had good results. With a full tank of fuel, a passenger, cooler and other gear we managed to turn the 27 Quad IV 5900 RPM for a best GPS speed of 91 MPH. We then put on the 29 Spinelli and ran it for a while and were able to get 6000 RPM and a GPS best of 93 MPH. I spoke to Hydromotive and asked about thinning the blades and what to expect. They think I will see 100 to 150 RPM and hopefully 2 MPH. They also think the slip out of the hole will be less with the blueprinted / shaved prop. It slipped pretty bad so the diameter will have to be left alone. We did our testing on a sticky 87 degree day, so I am assuming the comparisons will still be valid on a 75 degree dry day when HP is heavy. So lets do some BS math. On its best day the Spinelli turned 6300 RPM and a GPS best top end of 97.8 MPH with me and 10 gallons of fuel in 65 degree heavy HP air. Now if we use the 27 pitch prop at the same RPM as the Spinelli under those ideal conditions I come up with 97.2 MPH. Anyway just thought I would share. The prop will be out for a while getting printed and then we shall see! I will let everyone know how it turns out. Later, Craig
