broken drive = sunk boat? 2002 cig 38
is this something I can think of, when a drive 'disapear' like that?
when looking at picture of the gas tank, looks like sand or something like that... why just a broken drive would lead into a project? http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o58099-en.html |
Looks like foam with mildew between the tanks
I think that is foam not sand it does look like sand.
Same stuff thats between my tanks, foam.Perfectly normal
Yep that's foam all boats or most with alum tanks held in place by foam. If the foam is separated from the tanks that could be bad. Would let water seep under them if the floor wasn't sealed well.
Why does each tank have two pickups and 3 fuel delivery lines out?
You can switch the valves to allow the engines to draw off either tank, normal setup is one engine drawing off one tank.
Too bad the paint and interior are awful.
still seems like a decent boat for the money

I am confused how you break a drive and then it disappears? |

By the looks of it, I think the drive broke, then was removed for repairs and disappeared either at the repair shop ect.
that was my point! why would a boat turn in a project when only a drive is missing? smells fishy... to me at least.

With no price listed I suspect they are looking for a big number........If boatsdirect can't sell a running 2000 TS TG w/600s for 100K (been for sale for 2+ years) then there is no way a boat with issues is worth 75K broken, make it an ugly boat with an ugly interior with potential issues beyond a missing/broken drive and the boat really is a gamble. The fact they just don't put a used XR on it and sell it as a running boat really makes you wonder......
Price just got updated to 75K.......and the other project 38 TG got removed.
A used XR for 5K could make this a 90-100K boat........seems odd the dealer/broker wouldn't do the repair, sell the boat and just take the costs off the top at the closing. |
Maybe the guy doesn't give a chit about the money. Tired of having two cigs to maintain. I know I'd be putting a drive, prop, and detail to her before she hit the market but I am not as strong as many on the forum.
Wonder if they're selling for a bank or something. Repo?
Maybe the starboard motor has issues and they don't think it can be run without the drive there.
I saw the $75k price, figured it can be bought for less, a used drive, go through the engines maybe boost them a little, put a wrap on it and change out the vinyl and be in it for around 100K.
Good motors. Probly will hit about 75 cause cigs are heavy. Great price. Suncoast always has deals. Maybe cause they sell saltwater boats ?? I dont know. Just guessing.. If the drive fell off thats weird. The boat would have to be in reverse or maybe nuetral. Check your bolts over time. They tend to come lose. Usually on the lowers though

A stepped cig with 575s will run much faster than 75.
