Looked to be great weather up there. Did everybody have a good day? I have got to go back there some day, and stay for a week after the run....

The day started out a little iffy with just a couple sprinkles. I watched the first leg from in front of Clayton. Everyone was spread out and it looked like a very safe run. In ABay, customs and a freighter delayed the start by about an hour and a half. I watched the second leg from Jordstat Castle and they were flying by then. My Way II was really hauling when he went by. I then went back to ABay in the worst slop I have ever been in. There was a huge spectator fleet and it was just terrible. At about 5:30 I ran over to Rockport and saw the last of the boats pick up their cards there. Therefore, the Run was supposed to be done at 4PM ... but I bet some didn't finish till 6PM.

Also, just for fun, a little later when in was much calmer I made a run to goose Bay and back. On the way back, I was going about 75 and looked up and noticed a helecopter coming straight toward me about 40 feet in the air. He went by and the about 30 seconds later pulled alone side of me about 30 feet in the air and took some pictures ... I assume. Hopefully I'll be able to get one ... for a small fortune. It was cool though.

Hey Chuck,

I forgot to log off the board at work and BAYLINER BOB 38 thinks he is funny. Hope to see you and Diane before summer ends.

I spoke to some of the gang yesterday.

CUSTOMS was unreal at the lunch stop. A few boats were padlocked...a few folks were lead away with nickel plated bracelets.....pretty wild stuff. There were also 5 Law Enforcement birds in the air.

The Customs folks at the border have on Body Armour, Mirrors under the cars, full blown weaponry, cameras etc.... They said it will take up to 2 hours to come into the States today.

Otherwise the booze was flowing Fri night and everyone was partying away!

Never saw any of the above mentioned at the border. Welcome to canada...How much does that boat cost???...How long you staying??..any alcohol etc etc etc??? Have a great weekend.

Had to leave last night, Border patrol remembered us from customs at the ABAY stop. Never asked any questions accept "how many tv screens are in this crew cab and what are ya watching?" We watched :Shallow Hal" the rest of the way.At this point there were 3 agents looking at the T.V's. But they did tell us that Poker Runs America messed up the customs at the stop for them and was not happy with their organization(lack of). Thusly causing a huge delay. He then told us how they had it planned, which was not what we were told in the drivers meeting. It was a case of he said she said.

It can not possibly be explained how difficult all 150 boats proceeding to a 50' dock at the same time was. You had all 4 corners of the boat fending off other boats. Imagine all of Party cove ARIZONA idling to a 50' dock to then turn around to procede to another dock 100 yards away. enough said.Spectator fleet was much less than years past , we feel because of the weather, but still they squeeeeze you into narrow spaces and cause HAVOC.

Watched a 24 cat (with t200 I believe)stuff and submarine behind us at about 60, they popped up..looked at each other..and pounded the sticks back to the dash. Sweet to see them unscathed.

Great time, great day, lots of great Boats. Gan. is a great host. Lots of spectators made it even better. Poker Runs America did a fine job with the day, cant wait till next year!

BajaBob38, aka "BarneyBobLiner38" is funny. He just doesn't realize that we're laughing AT with rather than with him....

DaveP: !! Any word on what set Customs off on the bracelet rampage? Shame to hear that the Customs thing wasn't right. (I'll bet it's fixed for next year.)

jb - Sounds like at all went pretty good. Having been there in the past, I can imagine the headaches for PRA in controlling the spectator fleet. Just glad to hear there were no horror stories - that run is such a great event. With all the community support and spectators, it seems to be the closest thing that Poker Runs have to the Indy 500.

JB, I was looking for you but didn't know what I was looking for. Next time, we'll have to arrange to meet somewhere in particular.

As for the run, well it was AWESOME! Shane and I ran his 24 Skater and just followed along as we were too short to meet the minimum length requirement. I drove while he throttled and it was just wicked cool. I had an amazing time. We never got squirrely, never came down hard or stuffed like some others. We just cruised along, even at 100mph for short periods and passed a lot of the other guys out there.

Excavator and Hotboat were there with their wives and tied up with us. They could not have been nicer. It was great to meet them.

Tomcat46, has the coolest boat. And, he was most gracious even giving both Shane and I a TomCat t-shirt and telling us all about the boat. Later, during the run, as he blew by us, he paused and waved at us before disappearing. Very classy, as was Drag-N-Ass who was hanging with him.

Anyway, we had fun and I'm sur eI forgot to mention some people, but I'll remember all the details and post later.

jb I could not of worded it better. Very word in your post is true. The A-bay stop was definitly a major cluster (you know what) Last years A-bay stop was much easier. It was wild, everyone fending off each others boat. It is amazing that some serious damage didn't happen.

Miller,
Looked for ya all day! Believe I finally saw ya as we headed to the Casino for the dinner and you were at a Hotel snapping up the boat????Could that have been you around 7:15-7:30???

Thought I saw HOT BOAT stopping to pick up an engine Hatch or something large anyhow. It was in a narrow channel on the way back to Gan. on the last stop. We tried to stop but were waived off by another boat. Not sure whos parts or who had the problem.
That Scarab looked very nice, I kept looking for him so I could get a closer look. Never happened.

Miller, you were not officially in the run?? How did that little cat that stuffed behind us get in???The name on it was (24-7). It was their first Poker Run. Taylor even gave a mention of them at the banquet...go figure.

I am still pumped up about it! Would like to hear some results of the speed run.
