Example of tips that cost nothing or next to nothing.

If you ever dropped anything in the bilge and can not reach it, Place a women's knee high stocking over your shop vac to pick up what you can not in your bilge area especially if your hands ot arms will not fit between your motors or under them. The stocking prevents it being sucked into your shop vac.

Also a women's stocking knee high makes a great device for filtering liquids, gas, gas from your gas can spout, oils, coolant and so on.

Also lets say you are reinstalling your cylinder heads or even the a intake manifold and you do not want the rust or scale from your water ports / water jackets to fall down into your cylinders. To prevent this put thick shaving cream in the water ports to prevent loose rust or scale falling into were you do not want it to. When you start your motor the shaving cream washes out.

Anyways my point is maybe to post useful tips & tricks, homemade tools and better tools that cost next to nothing plus could be great ideas along with being very helpful.. I have a bunch of them.

use a spark plug boot puller tool to help you pull off your rubber fuel lines from the hose barb.

Water base KY for installing impellers and or any tight rubber hoses to install a lot easier. Works also for exhaust hoses and bellows. Mercruiser lists power tune for some of these as well.

Wrap a zip-tie around impeller and cinch it down so that you lean all the veins in the proper direction. Spin it into the housing with dish soap; and cut the zip-tie once it touches the housing.

Buy your buddies a case of beer and as much pizza as they can eat and watch them pull the motor out of the boat :drink:

Ordering parts from Too Old, that was loaded with tricks, tips and oh yeah tools. Also helped to create the Beware section. LOL!

Who is Too Old ? have no idea who he is.

Impellers totally agree wrap a tie wrap around it, but we use 2 tie wraps one at 1/3 and another at 3/4 position on the impeller. A real good tool to use for installing impellers is a piston / ring install tool that is used for installing into the cylinders. Buy one that's made for small engines like dirt bikes that is small enough for the impellers. .

Installing long serpentine belts - start out by using a tie wrap to strap it to a small pulley so it stays in place while installing the rest of it. U can install them this way a lot faster and a lot easier. Do not forget to cut the tie wrap before running the engine.

That's what I use, a ring compressor 60 to 65mm..

May not make a section, but it could be a sticky in the tech section, either way, good idea.
