Thumbs up Good Guys at the C.O.P.S. Run

While running the C.O.P.S. Run my port engine started tapping and then decided to call it quits.
Luckily? this happened at the end of the run at the Waukegan Harbor.
I want to give a BIG Thank You to candyman35 for running me all the way back to the Portage Marina so I could get my trailer.
Also to Jack and Crew for helping me get my boat loaded later that night.
I'm with overwelmed with gratitude.......

Dennis,
Big bubbles no Troubles! Did you get a chance to look at that engine yet? Hope it’s an easy fix. No I haven't looked at the Juice box site yet. My Dmax may be getting an early Christmas gift. Let us know what happened.

It was good seeing you again.

Found beatup sparkplug on #2 cylinder.
Had a broken valve spring on the exhaust.
Things got beat up pretty bad as no valve head was left.
Pulled the head and it was Ok but needs to be gone through.
Piston has two big ol' holes in it.
Cylinder will need a sleeve put in it.
Going to yank the engine out Weds or Thurs. and do total rebuild,
metal chips everywhere.
The valve spring that went bad is the Crane triple that is in earlier HP500s.
Oh yeh, I have new Comp Cams replacement springs, retainers and 10* locks sitting in my tool box.I was waiting for a chance to install them in both engines...........

Dennis, that's too bad. I was hoping that it was going to be something simple.
And here you were about ready to head home when we were standing there in the drizzle. Then, I was the one that left in Hammond.

Well, I guess if it was going to break, it would've simply happened your next time out.

Well, it was cool running with you to Hammond. even if Linda was sitting on the floor for most of the ride.

Dennis,
Sorry about the engine. Are you going to try and get it fixed right away or do the rebuild over the winter?

I did see a Hobie Cat for sale! Interested!

Good luck with the rebuild,
Dan

Gonna pull both motors and put in some better pistons and rods.
Thinking about Merlin heads with some port work.
Spoke to Teague Marine today, with my setup and the above I could get 600HP

Payton,
I enjoyed the run over there myself.
Maybe the next time it won't be so rough......
I think Deb would have NOT enjoyed the run at all.

Hobie Cat?Ithought about it but couldn't figure out where to put the gas tanks for ENGINES.
