Hardly any teams do it for living. If they did, they couldn't afford to eat.

FYI also look into your boat insurance. I HIGHLY doubt they would pay out if you crashed your boat in an organized race.

There is only one way to make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.

Hey hey hey now... Poker runs are not races... However when the pace boat starts out most guys want to try and be the first one to the stop lol. :party-smiley-004:

I can tell you that OPA is nowhere near 5k a race....not even for a twin engine Class 4 boat...

I can see where you are coming from to an extent, however in 2010 my average expenses to do the OPA season was just a tad over 5 G's with Atlantic City pushing the average up due to it costing me $7400 and I dont include damage into my averages and even though that race was canceled, it was canceled at the last minute so the only thing I did save was the wear and tear on the boat. (my twin engine class 4 boat)

Due to the racers(no matter the flag) Offshore racing is merely a hobby at this point, it has a ton of potential however, the racers will never allow it to get to where it could possibly be.

If I wanted to race one or two races, it doesn't look like my boat fits into any class.... Top Gun, blowers, sixes....
