Participation at Corpus Christie

Just went over the results on APBA site. 34 boats total for the
event. Super Cat had 4 competitors and Super V had 1. Rule changes were supposed to make these classes more affordable.
F1 had 3 boats. What's really going on? Is the economy that bad?
Was the location a bad choice since it was substituted for Canada? Are racers getting discouraged because of schedule changes?
In 200 and 2001 it was not unusual to have 100+ boats at an event.

Raynman, your right that the participation in Corpus was a big disappointment. With no APBA races scheduled for September and the Corpus race honoring a fallen hero, Jack Carmody, I would have expected at least seveny boats. LOTO may have been a small factor.

Let us all know if you get the answer to your question.

Wow, 3 boats for F1! That's usually one of the biggest classes. That is disappointing. :(

I expected a small turn out for that race. I do believe that there were more than 3 F-1 boats there. I think that may have been a misprint but I could be wrong.

More than 3 boats started in F1. the APBA page isn't updated yet.

Update on F-1 boats who raced in Corpus:

Factory 1 - 1, Activator, 38:55; 2, High Energy Racing, 39:22; 3, Typhoon Racing, 40:04; 4, Flashwave, 41:23; 5, Patriot Offshore Racing, 41:47; 6, H2O Motorsports/Propco Propellers.com, 42:33; 7, Chuck's Beach Offshore/Fountain, 12:56 (only raced three of nine laps).

I thought as Ryan did that three boats sounded a little light.

for most people. the south of texas is a long way to drag a boat to race. drive time from ohio was 30 hours. and alot of fuel. who has that much time off ?

Just got back from Corpus late last night. There were a total of 40 boats at the race site.(there was 55 last year) There was seven factory-1 boats. This race was held in June last year when if you wanted to win the National title you had to go. With only one race left on the schedule those teams that were'nt in the points chase did'nt show up. I think that the Bahamas may even have less of a turn out, those who are not in the points chase will probably just get ready for the worlds.
The water conditions were sloppy for saturdays race(3-4's) not as big as last year but enough to seperate the Activators from every one else. High energy(f1-10) took the lead and held us off for four laps, once we got in front of them we were able to pull away and won by 30 seconds. Typhoon came in third and still holds the National points lead by 2 points. The National title will be a race between Typhoon and Activator in the Bahamas,a great way to finish the season.
B.J. Maher(f1-1)

BJ

Congrats on the win. With only a 2 point lead by Typhoon the next race should be flat all out no holds barred. :D

Good luck to all the racers.
