MTI's and Skaters are awesome boats and I love them but unless you have a second boat they are not very practical IMO. I would think coming from a cruiser your wife is going to want somewhat of a usable cabin. Unless you want to do nothing but go fast and I mean 80mph and above every time you use your boat a cat is not for you. They dont ride very well at 50, because they aren't packing air yet.

Take your time, ride in a few, and do your research before you buy. That's the best advice I can give you. Based off the info you gave.
I was going to thank you for making a post not mentioning performance boat center but then in your next post you mentioned performance boat center , oh well

He does work for them

Lots of dealers will give you lots of time and sea trials with your budget.
Performance Boat Center and Lake Ozark Marine will be your best sources at LOTO.

Thanks for all your feedback. Obviously heavier boats eat up the chop better is there a better brand/model or size that does this the best?

Yes I do work for them. LOM and PBC are his best choices at the lake. Thought I was helping a guy out, he can try Pier57 if he wants or anywhere else you would like him to go, please feel free to make suggestions. As far as me saying something about PBC when LOTO is talked about, i was a long time and happy customer of theirs, then we became friends now I'm an employee. So why wouldn't I?

Sorry to the OP. But it is comments like these that ruin most threads on this website.

It's all good. I was just giving an honest response to your comment. I don't comment on a lot of threads on this site because they usually go that way. The ones I do comment on usually have to do with LOTO because that is my primary Boating spot. So yes, it is natural that I would mention them. There are only a limited amount of performance shops at LOTO to recommend.

Justinnx: if you are a real buyer with a good budget like you have, then there will be people lined up to take your money. You have the right idea by coming to a forum and seeking counsel!
However, you need to try and filter through all the noise and BS to get some real advice.
In order to do that quickly, list the qualities you expect from your next boat. You mentioned a good ride. Pontoons ride well but I don't think that's what you want. Maybe a list of priorities would help you, and others on this site narrow it down. Above all, listen to others but alway make your own decision!
Welcome to LOTO and have fun boat shopping!
