General engine cleaning - in boat

Hello,

Have some 525s. How does everyone clean them?? Maybe a silly question, but I really don't know the best way.

I used a good spray nozzle on hose and rinsed / washed well. Then used a VERY STRONG leaf blower and blow dried the motors. Then they air dried for an hour or so. Never a problem.

What cleaner though??

I used boat soap - same stuff I used for hull.

Called smoove boat soap. Stuff is best I've ever seen!! http://www.smoovewax.com/about.html

I use simple green concentrate in one of those fertilizer sprayers.

CRC 6-56 and wipe everything down really good. Also, if you have a compressor and spray stuff down, the compressor with the spray attachment works well to disperse water.

We trailer to the coin car wash, pull the drain plugs and clean the engines and bilge with hot soapy water and then rinse. We do this a few times a season. We mostly towel off the bling, but the leaf blower idea would get out additional water in tight areas that normally just evaporate.

Is it necessary to to physically wash or just spray on some cleaner and wait a few minutes and rinse?

The leaf blower is a great idea!

I just use windex and some soft towels. No need for a water spray. But, I stay on top of them too, so they're only dusty for the most part.

Use the spot free rinse at the end for that extra bling
