Airbags in canopy boats?

First of all, my condolences to the entire Fiore family as they mourn the loss of Mike. In light of the accident, I have to ask why airbags are not used in closed canopied boats (or maybe they are and I'm just unaware). Have they ever been used in the past? And is it something that would be practical for race boats to utilize going forward?

Please do not turn this into a thread discussing whether or not airbags would have had any positive or negative affect in the tragic accident this past weekend...that is not the intention and I think it would be disrespectful to all those affected by it. I simply would like to be educated on the above questions. Thanks in advance.

And when would you set them to go off? On the first, second, third or fourth impact?

I agree a little too soon. I also can't think of any race car with air bags
