WoW, I just sold my 97 RS Camaro today. I'm going to miss that car.

Only positive out of it all is that I bought a truck to be able to tow the boat!

It is just like GM to phase out a cool car and replace it with a dorky van. It must be the brain child of same "bean counter" who figures out those long distance phone rates. I don't even like Ford, but at least they still make the rear wheel drive Crown Vics, don't they.

Another famous muscle car dies again, we should have a moment of silence. It will come back some day as a front wheel drive family car like everything else.

Cool My 86 TA

ordered the car new in the summer of 86. It was one of the last production cars for that year. It was not a GTA but had that style wheels. I had not ordered the wheels, they were not "available".

It also came with another suprise, a 5.7L enigne. The car would rock. Certified 167 mph at the GM proving grounds. I was employed there as an engineer at the time and had been through the Limit Handling course so I got to do the testing. Its a really long story thats ends very sadly. It was stolen on June 10th 1987, 10 day's before its 1st birth day. They found the car in Downtown Detriot stripped including engine and ECM. But I enjoyed the hell out of it the year I owned it.

F-Car's rule

Sad
I went though a few F-body's myself
79 T/A
84 Z28
87 IROC-Z
89 IROC-Z
94 25th T/A
96 Z28
If it wasn't for 9/11 i would have most likely sprung for a 35th Camaro.

Sat69,

That's not true, the PCM can easily be wiped clean. There is a data recorder but t is only valuable in the event of a crash.

Also, if you're running a 12.69, what have you done to it? It is definitely not stock. Most WS6 TAs that I see are running mid thirteens (13.5 to 13.7 if it's an auto, 6 spds are a little quicker). Plus you've only run it five times. I've put about thirty passes on mine to learn to drive it right (a must with a 6spd LS1) So... do tell.

H20Warrior,

My '91 was the same way. 5.7L WS6 with the GU8 Performance Axle (3.23) option. It had the GTA wheels with the rest of the GTA equipment minus the digital dash and the trim. It was no where near as powerful as my LS1 but it sure was fun. They also (in '89 I think) set up the 700R4 to be able to pull in fourth gear like the Corvette version which made high speed blasts quite crazy! We buried the needle with it a couple of times and the car seemed to never run out of steam. I remember that it would shift into overdrive at about 125 or so. Lots of fun!

I really missed that car for a long time... until I took delivery of the Formula. The LS1 F-body is truly the best of the best.

Too bad they're gone now.
