Oh shi......

tomtbone1993 09-18-2014 11:36 PM

Where you towing it or was it parked? Crazy all the rain this week.

Comanche3Six 09-18-2014 11:59 PM

Did a storm sewer catch basin collapse?

SANLEONKID 09-19-2014 12:15 AM

Exactly what happened. 14' lift basin had fresh asphalt and rain had loosened it up...... insurance thinks they can get money from MUD....... good luck!!!

flatlanderbill 09-19-2014 07:23 AM

was the boat damaged?

SANLEONKID 09-19-2014 07:35 AM

Port skeg broke off and weight of boat was jamming starboard od against stringer with all the weight... not sure if any damage yet. Both props bent. Two HD wreckers had to deadlift and pull onto Rd.

F-2 Speedy 09-19-2014 07:46 AM

Ouch, maybe the trailer got the most damage, four years of no rain now more than you want

scarabman 09-19-2014 07:47 AM

Everybody knows you have to be careful turning a stepped bottom boat.:lolhit::drink:

From one 33AVS guy to another, sorry for your trouble.

My first laugh of the day.

Not laughing at the damage of course.

WOW that's terrible (esp with another warm weekend here). We have been getting very hard rain for several days with flooding in the city. Really sorry to see that. Nice looking boat I've seen you out before. GOOD LUCK with the insurance. Where going for repair?

shepnic74 09-19-2014 10:27 AM

That sucks. Chalk that up to one of the wildest ways ever to bottom out a set of props lol. Sorry dude prob not funny

Looking at the pic....seeing the drag marks of the 2 skegs in the asphalt. I'm guessing it was not a lid failure. Possibly the front wheel of the trailer sunk in the mud imploding the basin with the weight and forward momentum of the boat/trailer. Also guessing the basin was not an engineered basin constructed of concrete and reed bar, but of basin block and mortar (Easier to blast though the sides). That's it for Sherlock Holmes today, I gotta cut my lawn.

MINK 09-19-2014 01:34 PM

Wow, good luck with repairs - hope you can get a nice trailer out of the deal!

TooLateVTEC 09-19-2014 05:28 PM

Damn that sucks @$$...

"Yes State Farm, my boat sunk....no no no, its still on the trailer....in the street....an asphalt street..."

Bauman propellers will fix the skeg on the boat, and fix your props too, they are close by mclain trailers that can fix the trailer.

SANLEONKID 09-19-2014 07:08 PM

Boat at Victory to get checked out. When it slid off, it pulled the back end of the truck about 4ft as it slid into ditch. The side of embankment was just filled in around the storm drain portion with no retaining........ just bad luck. She will be ready soon to be prowling Galveston and Conroe. Having the 12.5k hitch and 10k ball held the whole shebang from flipping over into the abyss..... THAT would have been bad!! I actually have Sydwayz to thank for this. His posts some 7 years ago as I was upgrading from 16 Donzi made me Realize I may NEED the extra protection some day.

Sherlock Holmes my azz, you must be Sherlock Holmes daddy. Either that or an engineer.

Sydwayz 09-19-2014 09:45 PM

Wow, glad no one was hurt first of all. Thanks for the note.

Make sure they check out everything both drives, especially the helmet, pins, and all weight bearing points. Make sure they look for the tiniest cracks and/or paint stresses.
Years ago, I had a drive literally break in half across the helmet. Mercury said that they only way that would have happened was if I was rear ended while on the trailer. (That never happened, but that's another story.)

Dude, be careful about giving Sydwayz credit, he can get to be a handful :drink:

SANLEONKID 09-19-2014 09:59 PM

I just had to. He does deserve it.

This was very close to the conversation.....

Sydwayz 09-19-2014 10:09 PM

Is the tow rig SRW or DRW?
I suspect SRW and overall ground pressure per square inch caused the whole problem! :D
The airbags should have aided with flotation, so I'm completely stumped though.

It was my understanding it was be towed with a dodge with the mirrors folded in.....
