How is it a stock class if you "Widen the tunnel by 12 inches"?

Then it aint stock or as the manufacturer intended it...

Keith, I haven't looked into it, but it's probably allowed because the newer DW's have the same 6" wider tunnel from the factory (like Hulk, Yachts, Blacksand, etc).

There isnt much regulation if the hulls in any class then right? They are all regulated by the power.

I made the assumption that this class had tighter regulations like those european classes - guess I made an azz out of my self for assuming.

Per the SBI rulebook, 63 inches is maximum tunnel width for the class. The SOS Venezuela team modified the the tunnel width by six inches to meet that maximum, so the boat is in compliance. There is nothing in the class specification that prevents a hull from being modified to meet the spec. One thing I did not include in the story—and should have—is that SOS had to add weight as the wider-hull cats have to be heavier. (If you're interested enough to check out tunnel width-to-weight-requirements for the class, check out the SBI rulebook, starting on page 49.)

And your question wasn't stupid. The only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask.

I don't know how much additional weight he had to add, but I'm sure this work has added some significant weight with the additional glass work and reinforcement to all the bulkheads.

If European you're referring to x cat, those guys change boats and bottoms constantly. Motors just are constant.

I saw it listed and I also heard Doug has a new carbon fiber 32 on the floor ready to be sold for a decent price, so that was my first thought as well Noli.
