Quality & performance V
Looking for a fair priced V possibly Sunsation 288, Magic 29 Wizard any others with a single to look at ?
Is the Magic any good, don't know much about them ,but seen a few good deals. Has to be a 75-85 mph boat for $45k and under, no blowers. Just starting the shopping around and could use OSO help. Thanks Guys Only respond, if you have something good to say about the mfg,- thanks |
Laveycraft 2750 or 29 if you can find one. Meets all your criteria and awesome in the rough.

I can think of about 3 Sunsation 288s that run 75-85 none without blower help and none will be under 45K.

wont see those numbers in a sunny for that price. It's a great boat and they can be found for that price but not at that speed range.
|
Check out Activator for sure. Best rough water V out there. I doubt you will find one for45k but they are worth the extra $. Build quality is great. Another thought is to maybe buy a good hull and over the next year or so build a motor/drive configuration to achieve the speed your looking for. 85mph for under 45k is a tall order.

Had a 24 V that ran 83-84 , boat I have now, a cat runs over 100 easy, but retiring, going to live on a smaller budget, but still want to play and wife wants the room. |

Have a 2000 year model - 280 Velocity with a Mercruiser 454 HO MAG MPI 385 hp @ prop / Bravo outdrive and 4 blade SS prop with very low hours completely OEM stock . No VST problem child fuel system as it has the Mercruiser Gen II cool fuel system.
Matching Tandem Trailer included. The boat has been stored properly now for almost two years - Nov 2012 ( drought here and busy during boating season then busy ) Will make boat turn key - battery, Impeller, fuel filters, tires, wheel bearings and whatever else comes up upon making it completely lake ready. Very very light load I have seen 70 mph once. Will run 65 to 68 all day long completely stock. Asking 28.5 K. You have extra change in your pocket to make this boat a lot faster. |
Have to stick with the 80mph or won't satisfy my need for speed, but thanks
|
I hear you, throw me about 7 to 8 k and I will make it 80 plus mph boat for you. just kidding - good luck.
|
A Velocity VR-1 would fit what you are looking for. I am pretty sure they will be around 80mph with a single 525. You could also look for a 29 fountain with a 525, there is one on the powerboat swap shop on Facebook but I think it is listed north of 60k if I remember correctly. Both of these should get you close to where you want to be, only problem is they will be few and far between.
|
Ya seems to me anything near 30' long that will do 80+ people want north of 50k for
|
Just curious but why are you so against blowers? I used to be against them too til i built blower motors last winter. First year I've gone a whole season without getting the tool kit out. Probably open up a lot of options for you.

A whole season without getting tools out and if it was no blower maybe 3 seasons-lol |
Yeah I agree with the 50K plus and probably more like 60+ for newer 525 blue, Hey we can wish for that deal of a life time LOL
A 500efi blue with a whipple would work I think, but good luck finding those. |
Still remember that DCB, damn that was a nice boat! Never saw ha up my way this summer.
Congrats on retirement, I wish you well! PS, the velocity pictured in the thread is a CLEAN boat, worth a look I think. I know the owner and the previous owner who was anal as hell, great people. |
Was up there 3-4 times with a 28 skater white & orange.
May try and buy the DCB back if I can get it, great little boat and was great on the lake for its size. You change boats? |
