Ohio River Cincinnati Labor Day Fireworks

I was thinking about heading down to Cincinnati Sunday for the fireworks. Anyone ever been there?
I've heard things can get stupid when the fireworks are over with when people are heading back in their boats.
Where is a good place to watch the fireworks? Is it a big party like some say?

Yeah Its a big party. Went a few years ago and will never again on the boat anyway. people were crazy after the show. Best bet is to wait it out before leaving

Thanks Rick. How many boats end up down there?

It is a great party. You'll want to make it a long day to make it easier on you. The earlier you put in and the later you take out the fewer a$$holes you'll have to deal with. Expect to pay $20 to launch.

Thanks Tim. Are you taking the new 302 there?

I was heading down with some people I bumped into here in Columbus, but I have lost there number. They have not called me. They put in about 25 miles away. They say its a lot better doing it that way. Make a long day-trip out of it too.

Thanks, Mike

Last year the USCG put a no-wake zone for several miles each direction after the fireworks and when I pulled into Rivertown they still had that in effect. It was very tame as opposed to years past. The fireworks are a pretty excellent party...

Mike,

No I'm not taking the new boat down there. Because of the new baby we don't have it at a marina this year. The wife is going to stay home with the baby and I'm going with a buddy that has in and out service so we don't have to fight ramp traffic. I also don't feel comfortable enough with maneuvering the new boat around all the anchor lines. The baja is much taller and harder to see around than the Fountain was.

Dano,

I'm probably going to hook up with Cliff again this year. Where are you guys anchoring?

Tim

Down by the 471 bridge (don't want to be in the thick of it). Do miss some of the scenery that way but a lot less hassle. What boat will you be on? I'm trying to get the dudes with the big Carvers to anchor and let us go-fasters raft off. After the fireworks we will be back at the dock for the "show" at the ramps (chit that's the best part)...always entertaining!

Anyone have any feedback? How was it? Crowded? Any laughs a the ramps?
