Speedmaster broken prop blade

I will not say that losing a blade does not hurt financially, but it is a pretty easy fix. Two nuts and another set of props and you are boating. I have only ruined two props in eleven years of running six drives with no drive issues other than maintenence. I do recall that bravo props do break. Way better than toasting a bravo drive. I would not even try calling my insurance company. The laughter would be deafening!

I've seen plenty of missing blades on Bravo I 4-blade and Maximus 5-blade props on Bravo drives so it is not limited to SSM props. .

.
Do prop builders buy back these broken props?
Cause the SS metal is still good I would think and has value.

That's scary right there! Just did a little math on the speed and force.
A 15" diameter prop at 4500 rpm, the prop tips are running at 200 mph and pulling just over 9g's of force. So when it lets go...
YIKES!

The prop was a 17 X 35 Mercury 850 HP. I was cruising at 95 mph. I hope my next broken wheel goes down! I will place the broken prop on my wall of shame. I will frame the picture and hang it on the wall.

Great catch on the GoPro!
I think I might have a set of Merc 35p four blades if you need another set of props. I believe they are either 17 1/4" or 17 1/2". I can check if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer on the 4 blades. The props that I was running were small 5 blades. I would be interested in a right 17 x 35 mercury 850 HP five blade. That would be a match. Yep, in flat water there is not much to do as a passenger in this boat. No wind to beat you up and just a great ride. Tony is probably texting his friends that he is sitting next to a Kenny Rodgers look alike. lol. Doug
