Just curious about rough water ride quality between 38ts and 42 staggered .dont care about speed.they are both fast.just have never been in a fountain.

I would think someone who referred to 38ts would know the difference.....Average Joe does not know what a Twin Step is....they are all Cigar boats to him....I will sit back and watch this thread...I always love learning how I own a bankrupt manufacture, small lake boat...ect..ect.. :)

Yea, this is gonna turn into a good thread. All the Fountain haters are gonna come out of hiding. Let me answer for them.

CIGARETTES ARE A TRUE DEEP VEE. THEY ARE BUILT LIKE ARMY TANKS. THE ROUGH WATER RIDE IS UNBELIEVEABLE. GOING 90+ IN 12'FT SEAS IS NOT A PROBLEM. FOUNTAINS ARE LAKE BOATS. THEY ARE FAST BUT THEY CANT RUN IN ROUGH WATER. THEY ONLY WON ALOT OF APBA CHAMPIONSHIPS BECAUSE REGGIE FIXED THE RACES. THEY ARE OUT OF BUSINESS BECAUSE THEIR BOATS SUCK. GET A CIGARETTE, YOU'LL GET LAID. PEOPLE WILL THINK YOU HAVE DEEPER POCKETS, AND LET YOU SIT AT THE ADULT TABLE AT CHRISTMAS DINNER. PLUS IF YOU GOLF, THEIR APPAREL WILL WORK NICELY AT THE COUNTRY CLUB.

I think you covered most of it except the part about a Fountain being 6 feet shorter than it is rated because of the beeeeeeeek and swim platform.

Just remember, Reggie had none other than Peter Hledin at Skater build most of his winning race boats. Actually some of the Fountain race boats didn't even have beaks & were almost an exact match to the Skater Vee. Im not trying to trash anybody but there is a whole paragraph about this on skaters website. So comparing winning race Fountains to regular Fountains is hard cause theyre different. Go Cigarette in my opinion. And they look better too.

bestb said up a few posts. cigs rough. beaks fast. faster in any water i.m.o. and they don't spin. and skater built a few of the older beak race boats. the later were in house.

Beaks don't spin?! Ive seen a couple spin.

This summer a 2014 Cigarette 42x with 1100 mercs tried to hang with me at the old saybrook poker run.water was pretty rough I paced him at 110 mph which was top speed for him and a 0 boost cruise for me. :)
After a few minutes of that I got bored so I showed him what a fountain can really do (142 mph ). I'm not a cheerleader for ANY brand but I know MY fountain will crush any cigarette. Oh by the way I live on Long Island south shore and do the majority of my boating in the Atlantic Ocean not a calm water lake.

With a Fountain you get the skanks! Look at the guy in the background wondering where the chicks are! Does this mean I get a ride in your Cigarette.L0L

maybe when being pushed to the limit. hands down beaks have a better bottom for high speed maneuvering.

I'll up it one.... I smoked a 41 Apache in 3-4's with 800's and SSM 3's. I sliced the waves and he chopped them. Dont get me wrong other boats are nice too.

Seems like a 42x with those motors should be faster than that, I thought 42's with 700's run over a 100. No doubt a 42 poker run is a bad machine.

Ok, this thread can go on for 10,00 years..... SO, go take a ride in both. Se which one ya like better, which one looks better to you and then go get one of your own. They both have a huge name in the industry. Bottom line you gotta wake up to it everyday and look at it everyday. Not us. Just tryin to help.

I will admit the 36 gladiator is an awesome machine. I love it. no cabin but no rubrail either , and it just looks sweet. just be careful at low speeds it will go over.

indeed. skater has one of if not the finest layup schedules in the industry. others are fine as well but they are great at strong , light, layups.

I ve never been in or know of, one that spun under 40. I have rerigged 2 cigs that did. both driven by formidable operators. which has a lot to do with it.
personally i.m.o.the 47 poker run beak is the best of both.

Whattya mean skank magnets, fountains get the classier girls. After a hard night of drinking and bringing home a boat load like that, of course the fountain is going to collect more chicks, At least one hotty can roll off the top of ya, crawl outta the v berth and stumble past the other two honeys, for a 3am squirt in an ENCLOSED head.

In a cig she'll have to ask Destiny and Bambi to get their heads off the porta potty in the middle of the cabin and watch her do her buisness.
