Width decision for new boat lift

I'm having a second lift placed at the dock. For now, it will hold a 24' Malibu Wakesetter. Eventually, I might put a wide-body cat on it. Looks like the beam on most cats (Nor-tech, etc) are anywhere from 10'9" to 12'. Please tell me if getting a 12'6" wide lift would be a problem if I end up getting a 12' beam boat. Or, do most 12' beam boats fit nicely (and snuggly) on the 12'6" lift.

I would want at least a foot on each side and a min of 6 inches on each side.

AMEN

You want to have a little room when you come in less than perfect -- Was finally able to buff out a few of the "dings" in the ol gel coat this fall. Depending on your lift - ours has a canopy and a 24V solar cell lift motor. I put a couple led strips over the boat and at night it is nice thing to have while putting on the covers, etc.

all the best

Negotiated on a 16k lb lift with 14' beam. It'll look huge under a 2014 24' Mastercraft X-Star for now, but WTH.

Malibu or mastercraft?

Mastercraft
