I have to disagree with this one. my boat was worth $5000, I spent $3000 on it and now it is worth $4000. at least if it was worth the nothing in your example I would be back to even. I always seem to be on the "buy high, sell low and make it up in volume plan."

50.) when bragging about your new engines turns into realizing that you have a 10 year older boat then you thought. And you've owned the boat for 3 years

51) If your boat is less than 28 feet long don't even bother taking it out on Lake Erie or Lake Michigan. It will be swamped immediately

52) Buy the biggest boat you can afford. If you are looking for a nice Economical 24 foot boat for any of the Great Lakes you are making a huge Mistake. Buy a 38 footer with twins you will not regret it.

53) If you do not buy the 38 footer with twins never under any circumstances venture more than 1/4 mile from shore. You will be stranded worse than Tom Hanks.

54) 50 % of the advice you receive on here is total BS. The other 50 % is actually priceless. It takes a while to tell the difference. It would help a lot if they required everyone on here to FaceTime ( if thats the right term?) while they were typing to me how to fix my boat or tell me what I am doing wrong.

LoL!!! Even the harbors are in on this. I cross the lake in a smaller craft all the time, when reserving a transient slip, they always ask me about 10 times what my length and draft is ending with an "are you sure?"
