yep, thats actually a good time to spur out the heavy stuff, when its dry. The other thing that takes a bit of a touch is rocking the buffer so the direction of the pad is working in your favor. Its tough to explain but it makes a differance weather you have the pad flat or slightly tilted and its dependant on the direction you are working. you develop a rhythm as you go, ya kind of push against the direction the pad is moving.

So do you want to have the pad slightly tilted instead of "flat" to the surface? I am hopefully going to knock out once side this weekend. The boat has a decent finish as it is. However, I can tell a little bit of a difference. The surface definitely isn't as rough.

It depends, on large flat areas for the most part it will be flat while working the compound but as you work back and forth and get the speed up you may start to tip it a bit. Its actually hard to explain, been doing it so long its kind of automatic and i am just trying to play the process from memory lol. You develop a feel through the buffer and visually. Once you start messing around with it a bit you'll probably see what works best. Again for moderate oxidation Totally Buff is a really forgiving product, works great and does most of the work for you. Its probably the least technical product as its self cleaning and diminishing so by design its hard to use it wrong (its smart compound lol). Like i said once you start buffin it will be a little more self explanatory.

Seemed like totally buff worked well it seemed to work its way in real quickly. Not sure if I wasn't putting enough product on. I was just putting it in a circle around the pad.

thats what I do, just put I on the pad in a circle. Just dont fire up the buffer fling'in compound everywhere before its on the surface :D

Thanks for all the help man. I am going to get working on it this weekend.
