Ready to build a new boat.
I think I'm ready to have my first new performance boat built. Ive had a few different boats over the past few years and looking to have my first new boat built. Im looking for simple 33 to 38 with 525s.
What are your thoughts. All my options are open. Kinda leaning to Apache. How long does it take to have a new one completed? |
i think you are a little late for a new apache but if all options are open i,d look at outerlimits.im not sure if they will still be building boats since mike,s passing but id find out if i was in the market for a new one.nortec also would be a good choice.
I thought you were selling your 37 AT because of other interests and a lack of time to use it????
It depends on how custom and which manufacturer as to how long it will take. Probably looking at 250k plus for new custom built and 4-8 months depending on the builder. |
A new apache? That would shock the boating world and would be my choice. Have always said if the funds were ever there for a new boat it will be a apache and not a rebuilt one.
Saber Marine is builing a new 34 as we speak. you could pick all options still.
An apache w 525's would be hard to get seeing neither exist anymore |
hustler 388 reloaded with 540's
The HP 525 is available on a limited timeframe if I recall correctly. Very soon it will be NLA.. I might be wrong currently but the last time I was told around summertime you could still get one.
I just looked on the Mercury Racing website and the 525 is not listed so maybe all gone now. I will find out 4 sure on Monday. |
What will Macmanus build ?
I was sure Mcmanus was building them?? I'll have to call the number on the wed site. When did they stop building the 525. What is replacing it?
You should build a 10 meter Fountain with a pair of 600sc`s , Stellings and a pair of #5`s.
I still have my 37. Im hope I can find more time to boat next year and be able to go other places other than our local waters.
520 and the 540 both have been in the marketplace already from Merc racing.
I had no idea the 525 was dropped. Its been a while sense iv'e been on the site.

http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/c...teaser-41.html Post # 1220 should explain it :D |
Heck I thought it was for Bogie to look at and comment on. I see he made friends over in swap shop as well. At least he is consistent no matter what the thread is about or where they end up.

i heard you got something already????????
Mark can build you a new Apache, his attention to detail is second to none.
If he wants an Apache wouldn't it make sense to order a Chief?
If you go with a new Apache what engine oil would you use?
Mcmanus and Chief building from the same hull design?
The chief has small steps and the McManus doesn't.
+1 for the Chief. I was just talking with Ed at Lake Ozark Marine about a light layup 540 boat the other day. I've already got a 36' Apache and the 42' is the only thing I would consider moving to.
565's are the way to go! Absolutely love mine!
The 42 Poker Run Chief with Ilmors should be ready to run very soon. I think an epoxy 42 with Merc Racing power would be awesome.

Not to poo-poo the Apache love fest here because believe me, a 42/47 Apache is about the coolest offshore rig in the world.
That said, don't be short sighted on the resale value down the road. Sure the tight inner circles know the Apache/Chief/McManus connections but that is a small group with limited purchasing abilities. Cigarette & Outerlimits, though more common will have a broader resale audience and again, no offense to the Apache crowd, have way more technology and speed then the older Apache designs. This is especially important if you are going mild power/Bravo drive. |
:food-smiley-007: I see his 37 is still for sale...

We don't sell boats, but we love our Ilmor MV8 570's as far as power goes!

Maybe true with the whole apache/chief/nutec/pantara/saber/McManus/checkmate and who ever else, but they are all ways show stoppers. I say pick one of the above and do it.
Chief is the only one to produce a new boat with in the last few years out of them . ( that I have seen) |
