My V-8 mercruiser shuts down at 3000 rpm's, I've tried everything any other ideas. I do not trust marine repair shops but one of these years I'll find the problem to get back out on the water...

Just toss a bottle of SeaFoam at it. Fixes everything- old gas issues, phase separation, stuck valves, chipped reeds, bent pushrods, spun bearings.... No need to diagnose/troubleshoot, just pour it everywhere like a Def Leppard video.

My local NAPA dealer (across the street from me) sells so much of it I call them 'The Crack Dealer.' Then again, during the winter you should hear them push gas line antifreeze too. Hard to keep my mouth shut as when I'm over there I have my well marked work clothes on.

I bought a barn find '62 C/10 years ago with a Stovebolt that barely ran. Local partshouse wanted me to "flush" the crankcase with several bottles of SeaFoam when I told him I was changing all fluids/filters/belts. I laughed and told him $5/bottle was crazy when kerosene was $1.35/gallon. Parts guy huffed and puffed like the big bad wolf, I guess the mark-up must have been REALLY good on that stuff.

Four 2 barrels is better than 2 four barrels.

Its always starting fluid, Seafoam, ,jumper cables and 5 empty qts of gear lube bottles sitting somewhere in the boat. Then ask the boat owner how is your boat running. They never seem to have the correct and or complete answers for that question.

Whats wrong with gas line antifreeze, I use it when it gets really cold.. no good?

Back on topic:

Youre losing at least 150hp with big headers, time to pick up some junk yard manifolds for more power

Now wait just a minute.... I saw the mythbusters epeisode. You just need a little more than a bilge blower, They proved that hooking 5 big gas leaf blower motors to a 4 cylinder car can make a real difference in hp, like an honest 2 hp!!!!
