Most likely a beach launch in Australia that is very common.
Outgoing tide and heavy ground swell is a real ***** to negotiate.Problem is once he committed he had to stick with it there is no turning broadside to the waves with a Cat as it will rail up and flip easily so he pushed through.
A wave like that produces so much lift where it is breaking that even if he was standing still the speed and force would have probably still flipped him .
Wrong place at the wrong time .I spent many years negotiating big breakers like these having to shuttle passengers back and forth to the beach in a 21 foot rib.Some Good Times
