I guess wearing lanyards and lifejackets doesn't always make you safe.

That's wild! I've never taken anything larger than a surfboard through large breakers and I think I'll try and keep it that way.

Most likely a beach launch in Australia that is very common.
Outgoing tide and heavy ground swell is a real ***** to negotiate.Problem is once he committed he had to stick with it there is no turning broadside to the waves with a Cat as it will rail up and flip easily so he pushed through.

A wave like that produces so much lift where it is breaking that even if he was standing still the speed and force would have probably still flipped him .

Wrong place at the wrong time .I spent many years negotiating big breakers like these having to shuttle passengers back and forth to the beach in a 21 foot rib. Some Good Times

"Dear Mercury Marine please refund my original purchase price in full for the enclosed bow lifting propellers. Turns out they were not needed."

Tough crowd. If he had been successful he'd be a bad ass. But since he failed he's an idiot.

He only would have been a bad azz on THT or Continuous Wave, pretty sure most here still would have poked fun.
