That's several days but yeah along those lines. That boat is at least 280ft though. It's an Edison chouest boat. They are the big boys of offshore. One of their boats has 29,000hp. Damn!!

Yup just got in. Port Fourchon. Busiest port in the United States and that's measured by tonnage of cargo moved yearly.

Yeah. The slips aren't very big and some of the larger stuff tends to back through a lot of the slips. We have stern controls. So you go to the back of the bridge and have a full set of engine controls designed for specifically handling at platform under crane for offloading and backloading the boat. Sometimes the slips are too tight where you can't physically spin the boat in a full circle also known as top around. So you have to back in just to get her to the dock right.

Mike, that would be cool to go out and try it......................once, maybe twice................. I don't think I could be out on the water that much, my Father was in the Navy for 12 years during WWII and the Korean war and he was on a ship for half of that time, he told us, it killed him to be away from home for 6-7 months at a time, now I know you're only gone for three weeks at a time, but was it hard to get used to.

It's 4 weeks a clip for me at the moment. Yes extremely hard and I'm still not used to it. Lol. I definitely miss a lot of good things like the key west races, holidays and lots of fun events. If I had small children to raise not sure I could personally do it. Most out here have kids and it works for them. It likely wouldn't work for me. I'd go back to turning wrenches in some form and home every night.

Now on the brighter side it does treat me very well financially. I absolutely love running boats and being on the water. So there is definitely a love/hate thing.

My license upgrade I'm working on will raise my pay enough that hopefully I will get on a 14-14 rotation. 2 weeks away from home is plenty and actually not hard at all. I think 14-14 is the perfect schedule.
