Blue thunder
 

So from what I've read blue thunder was a bunch of bad a$# guys riding around in cigarettes all day arresting drug runners .Now a days all the coast guard has is CC is there an organization or department that still uses offshore boats or have they all switched to CC ?

When you say "Blue Thunder" are you referring to the boat or the task force - the latter was actually called "Blue Lighting."

Today most are using center consoles... CBP has switched from the Midnight 39 to the Nortech 43's

I live in S. FL and CC's and inflatables are all I ever see. I was in the Bahamas twice this summer and I saw an old (tired) 43 NT as a Bahamian police boat.

The bad a$$ guys still roll around, but in zodiacs and CCs. TACLET (USCG; Chris Costa's old unit), CBP Air and Marine, and even Blue Lightning, partially funded by HIDTA, are all still in existence. No need for super fast boats with choppers and FLIR. 300 Verados lose all reliability when they meet a .50 cal.

They had fountains in san diego many years ago, A pattern was observed... You put kids in their 20's in fast boats you get broken boats as they arent paying the repair bills.
