I just started this long awaited project. I took down an old smaller barn on a rental that I have and I'm building a 42x62 barn with two apartments on the top. It will give me a full 40x60 on the inside. It will have four 12x12 doors in the rear with a fifth door on the end. The inside height will be 13'6", I couldn't make the doors larger because of the Historical Society in my town. I hope to get a 32 or 35 CC and if I get something larger someday I could bring it in the fifth door and have 60' of room.

Don't let the size fool you. I can fit a bunch of boats in as you can see. Outside
Ok I've got to say it -- Sorry I dated her sister -- from the outside everything looked pretty small!! |

Dumb question but for all of the guys up north........Why don't people build out their basements into a jumbo garage? Engineer the layout so the garage door is in the right spot and the whole basement is the garage. I get the support columns won't allow for large open spaces but surely it would allow a "lane design" so that you still park cars/boats.
This is the idea, just not sure an oceanfront mansion is ideal for storing 20 cars! BTW.....house is not 50 million, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZFL6t0vX8o |

Prabably because most of the heating and air handler are in the basment, a garage needs to be separate from heating ducts etc. fire hazard |
