This is a fun run where the southern run is a member only FMO run. FMO is second to none but this run allows even the casual boater to join in and have a fun day on New Year's Day.

Either one you choose you can't lose.

I know what the plan and details are for the FMO run are, but what are the details for this run? Where does it go and what are the stops if any? Distance? Open water running or is this a river run? I see a lot of pic of small OB cats, that's why I ask.

Sorry, I just noticed Ryan's post with the details.

So is this open water running or basically a river run?

I don't know for the Sarasota end but for us in the Tampa/St pete area. We gather near John's pass and run the gulf into the Manatee River. Stop at Tarpon Pointe and hang out, the run back home.

There is a great mix of boats of all sizes. We will be running down with my sonic, a 41 Apache, and prob a smaller Skater O/B cat.

Peter there is, it is Bay Pines (War Veterans Park). Kind of odd channel that zig zags but easy to follow and puts you right out in front of John's pass.

We have been doing our run for 10= years. It is a FUN RUN. There are no fees, sign ups, registrations. or cards. EVERYONE is welcome no matter what size and or type of boat. The run from Sarasota is 26 miles each way from the 10th St Boat ramp. It runs north up Sarasota Bay, through Cortez, out into Tampa Bay , East into the Manatee River. Bob's FMO is a great group with a bunch of really nice hardware and great people. They are doing there thing, we do ours...... If you are interested in joining us, please do so, we would love to have ya. The weather report looks fantastic right now. We also will be out for a lunch run on Wed the 31st as well as the Twisted Metal NYE party at there Man Cave!
