Thinking of purchasing a 1994 fountain fever 27'...Opinions?

I want to purchase a fountain fever 27. I just looked at a 1994 fountain fever 27' which is absolutely pristine. Original owner who went to the factory and ordered the boat. He knew someone and was able to order the boat with the 525sc motor which was not available in the 27. He was also able to get it with a 1.36 drive which was also not available. The owner has the original test sheet with reggie as the driver. The boat ran 78.5 mph at 5150rpms. Like I said the boat is pristine and only has 199hrs. The owner is asking $35k-. Is this a good boat and a good price? I wanted a stepped 27 but I don't know of any 27s with this motor from the factory and don't know any 27s doing 78.5mph from the factory. Owner believes may be only 27 fountain that has this motor from the factory.

Sold 02 one owner at that price. 496 ho. For reference. This year.

The boat might be very clean, but the year of the boat will hurt the price. It's a buyers market. The price is too high. Best of luck.

Respectfully, I disagree. It is overpriced if I was buying a 27'.

I have a 95 stepped hull 27 fever that came from the factory with the 525sc, great package, boat runs awesome with that power.

Also dont get hung up on "claims" that something is a one off super special limited edition... Usually doesnt mean much as far as boats are concerned. You have any idea how many old cigs are out there that were built as "Don's personal boat"? Or how many fountains that Regigie did the layup and bottom special??

If you think about it, if its so special, why is it the only one?? If the combination is somehow magically special, Reggie would have sold a bunch of them, he was all about marketing and selling boats.

Personally, I think $35k is a bit steep - even for a pristine boat. (BTW, was it used in fresh or salt water - because that will make a huge difference.) There are a ton of 27 Fountains out there, many of them in really nice shape. For instance, I have a friend with a 1991 in equally nice shape - with a killer blower motor done very, very nicely. And he's way under $35k.

Remember, with a boat that old, no bank is going to loan anybody money to buy it. So any buyer will have to be "cash on the barrel." That automatically limits the price.
