Thanks, guys,I'll check it out. My friend's wife wnats to surprise him on his birthdayn with a Bahamas trip and lease a Batboat to race there. He has no racing experience but years of performance baot experience, currently owns a Cig Top Gun, previously a Cafe Racer and some smaller fairly fast boats. Is this a bad idea? With no race experience will he endanger himself or others? I hear they are pretty safe but I don't want him in over his head.

packinair 09-01-2002 11:41 AM

these are the most forgiving boats on the planet!! Glassdave and I did a 100 and some mile poker run in 4-6' waves in one and it was pretty damn cool.. he will have a blast in one.

Magic, it's a great idea. Chris has it set up for the newbie racer. I raced in Corpus and Chris and his crew took care of everything and gave excellent race training. Unfortunately, Chris may already have all the boats reserved for the Bahamas. Contact him quickly. Try his cell phone since they are racing in Grand Haven this weekend. Mobile (513) 706-3199.

If he wants to come to San Diego I can at least take him for a ride in one. Mine is not set up to race in the class since it has 650 HP and goes 100+, but its fun to drive. My wife says I am always looking for victims to take out.

Magicfloat,

Have your friend contact me on my cell phone, 513.706-3199. We are on the road still looking for sponsors to help cover the prize money for the series. We currently have six boats racing in the Bahamas, but could get another boat ready in time. We were offering free hotels for our customers over there and that offer still stands. As for our website, it is going through a massive reconstruction and is a mess. I can send you some info in the mail.

Tom,

Great to see you on the board. If I ever head that way, I gotta get a ride in that machine. I hear you were taking it out recently... how did it go?

Ray Van,

Thank you, and we will see you in Corpus Christi or Daytona next year.

Ron P,

Good band I am sure, but not really very funny. There is some racing information and news on...

Sharkey,

Thanks, are you heading to the Bahamas? It is sure to be a blast.

I have an appointment at HTM for next week to have them go over the engine before taking it out. We put in a 560 ci 650 hp motor, so it might go 115 if I do the arneson drive I haave been considering. It breaks 100 with bad propping with the dpx hp drive. I need to find out who can cup the props since it blows out the propeller and has plenty of power left at 100. I am using the biggest props volvo has. Stellings made me exhaust pipes that look awesome, picture attached.

By the way, does anyone know how to hook up a garden hose to a Volvo DPX HP drive?

Pete B 09-03-2002 03:55 PM

there are two ways to go about it, 1# is to disconnect the water line coming from the drive which is the back up metheod. 2# get a garden nozzle and wrap some tape , just enough to hold in bottom pickup. call chris reindl he may be able to send a pic of the way we do it.

That is sweet..... This trailer actually has removable pins and the top boat gets lowered down with the winch on the front of the trailer... I know it's not Offshore, but I just wanted to show another idea for a trailer setup...

DallasHeat 09-05-2002 09:01 AM

I was gonna say, you would have to back in pretty far to get the top boat off...:D :D :D :D

SHARKEY-IMAGES 09-05-2002 10:34 AM

:D :D :D Yes, that whole top portion folds down... He eventually got a 44' enclosed trailer and mounted tiny wheels on the side of the boat trailer. What supported that was aluminum tracks mounted on the walls of the trailer. He would just set the wheels up to the tracks and pull the boat in and up with a winch.
