What to get next...

So our boat sold and we are planning on picking up something next fall, but we really don't know what we want. We are a family of 5, and need room in the cockpit, the wife wants more comforts for the kids like, fridge, microwave, TV, a/c would be a plus. All we have had is Baja and I would like something different, looks like the 38 sonic has what we want, but I would like other options. Is there anything else that compares to the cockpit room of a 33 & 36 baja as well as the 38 sonic??? Budget not set in stone but probably 60-65 max.

scarab63 12-06-2014 12:31 PM

Formula ?

Quinlan 12-06-2014 12:59 PM

Nothing has more room in the cockpit then a 33 Outlaw

ICDEDPPL 12-06-2014 01:11 PM

I found the headroom in the Sonic nice but the sleeping area is tiny. You overnight? If so I think you`re looking at a cruiser. :party-smiley-004:

Nate5.0 12-06-2014 02:15 PM

I have a Sonic 358 (for sale too) and the cabin room is second to none. Tall ceiling, TV, DVD, fridge, sink, standing head, microwave, and all. I find the sleeping room great in mine but I am 5'7" and the GF is 5'8" so if you are 6"+ then I could see that but in that size most beds will be small to someone so tall.

The cockpit is good, could be a touch larger but it is fine. We boat with usually 6-7 on board and we find room to make life work just fine.

All and all it is a great boat.

Pwraddr 12-06-2014 02:46 PM

I would take a look at a 380 Powerquest.

T-RAV 12-06-2014 04:45 PM

I don't want to go to a cruiser we still have the want to go fast. We don't overnight unless it's the wife and I and we've had to many drinks when we don't have kids. So like twice a year... The cockpit on the sonic 358 looks the size of the 29 outlaw we had, so I'd want to go 38. Thanks for the powerquest and formula suggestions. Anyone have any others to throw in that may fit???

offshorexcursion 12-06-2014 05:15 PM

43 Black Thunder
38 Powerquest
38 Donzi ZX
37 Active Thunder
40, 36, 35, 33 Outlaws have the best cockpit

I know you don't want a cruiser but cruisers ROCK! I love ours

you want the best of both worlds then look into a formula 33ss..all the room you nees and it will still getty up and go.. http://www.powerboatlistings.com/view/28840

Hustler 40

Sydwayz 12-06-2014 06:25 PM

FWIW:
386 Sonic and 358 Sonic are identical from the steering wheel forward.

386 Sonic with TRIPLES will have the exact same cockpit as a 358. (The engine room is longer to accommodate the triples.)
386 Sonic with twins can have a couple of different cockpit configurations including a U-shaped rear seat or straight bench across the back.

Forgot fountain 47!!!!

32fever 12-06-2014 07:11 PM

Formula 382 fits your description. Nice cockpit room, and usually they have all the amenities. They lack headroom to stand in, but you never typed lots of headroom :) Lots of pick from in the 60-65 range, and you can probably find one for less.

37 outerlimits, just sold mine, had it for 16 years, stand up head room, fridge , micro wave, wife and I overnighted in it all the time, tons of freeboard, all those years on lake Huron and never once did that boat scare me, rock solid and super stable in all sea conditions. Mine had 500 hp power so dependability was never an issue. if you can find a little extra in your budjet you will not be sorry, defineatly worth the premium price.

If you are looking for a sonic, I would look deeply at Nate5.0. If you are leaning towards a Baja, PM me as I know one that fits your bill with a brand new trailer that hasn't even been registered. Let me know.

We aren't ready to buy right now, and nates is out of my price range to boot.

Thanks for the ideas everyone,I wouldn't have thought to look at powerquest, we have a lot to look at. What about the cockpits on the 41/39 velocity they look like a good size via pictures.

I would love a 37 outerlimtis but if I found one in my price range I'm sure it would need a ton of $$$ put into it!!

Powerquest230 12-07-2014 03:43 PM

Cobalt 343- tons of space and faster than most cruisers...

JaayTeee 12-07-2014 04:04 PM

Probably putting mine up for sale this spring.....that great cockpit of a 33 Ol, 90 MPH and right around your price range

scarab63 12-07-2014 04:27 PM

powerplay 33 outboard??? won't be a fast boat, but huge cockpit and killer ride!!!

offshorexcursion 12-07-2014 04:28 PM

Velocity's are nice.

But if your coming from a Baja you will love a 33 outlaw!

I have been looking at the one Randy has. I would be all over it if it wasn't at Cobra. Lot of boat there.

Sorry for the hijack but what did you do to the 575's to hit 90? Looking into upgrades for mine, thanks!

endeavor1 12-07-2014 06:33 PM

Let me find a job on the Gulf Division and ride with me ...:wizard:

Hmmm... You have a full cabin?? I could always add a few things to make the wife happy... The space does make us keep coming back to baja.
