I want to build my own surface drive. arneson is too expensive for me.

Buy a used Arneson for 3-5 grand and forget what you want to do. Building a non trimable unit on a unknown hull will almost guarantee a 90 percent failure in performance.

I can't find a used arneson for that price. And I have a hard time putting a 5000drive on a 5000 dollar boat.

look for a Borg Warner 1721, its the predecessor to the asd6

There is a 20' Bonanza race boat complete & running with a bbc and surface drive on FB swapshop for 10K right now.

Dam wish I could sell mine. Anyone want a four Winn's Candia 1993 .,reverse arch wake tower with a 5.0,in it.....5800 Hahahaha one day appreciate the looking out for the good deal!!
