What is the power difference between wet and dry exhaust?

Engine: 700 HP @ 6000 RPM. How much power does the wet exhaust rob? I know it is stupid loud.....I just want to know how much power is lost assuming the tuning is adjusted for the wet/dry exhaust.

Power loss is minimal, however with dry you can run Any Cam you can dream up. Wet limits cam choice greatly.

if you take that 700 hp bbc out of your 68 chevelle and put it in your 25 ft baja with stock exhaust manifolds that were on your 415 hp 502 efi engine.reversion will probibally kill it in 10 minutes.

too much rpm at 6000 for the hp to live..

vtown 12-20-2014 11:15 PM

assuming it does live at 6000 rpm....no cam change. Headers. How much power is lost running wet?

fastdonzi 12-21-2014 08:21 AM

Now, A "True" Tubular header will shine over a cast manifold in the power area. But a Wet 5" pipe probably flows the same as a Dry 4". The difference between wet & dry is minimal. you can induce water further down the tailpipe but some Cam choices will find a way to $uck it all the way back and F-up your motor :)

My last pair of hearing aids only cost 2 grand from costco....

Wet exhaust = happy neighbors Dry exhaust = pissed off neighbors

That only applies if your neighbors are sail boaters.
