My Blackhawk required the props be "timed" as well. I assumed it was to make sure the props are entering and exiting the water at the appropriate time, since it can vary depending on how the two props are spaced.

Direct fuel injection and all LS engine based engines is on its way from them.

The "cavitation plate" is one of my pet peeves! LOL

I had a Volvo SX drive and loved it. Shifted like butter and no issues. A buddy had the same boat with a DP drive and he beat the snot out of that thing on Lake Michigan for 5 or 6 years. Never had a single issue. I am certain he would have went through 3 or 4 Bravos!

Merc bravo III is good but the Volvo DP is by far better especially the newer style 2007 to current. they are faster by 1.5 to 2 mph- hydro dynamically than the 2006 Volvo DP back version and so is the SX outdrive. Model year 2007 was a design change and complete make over. Like I said in the posts before here, the Bravo III has some problems even with the newer style propshaft seal & SB that came out about 3 or 4 years ago.

If you want I can send you pics of what in the world I am talking about clocking / timing the props and you can post them up here. I can add to the reasons why after the pics posted.

Yes the Blackhawk drives in the service manuals use to show how to clock / time the props for the proper installation. Also years back so did some of the very early Bravo III service / tech info.

I'm learning on this one. I think BUP is saying they should be installed like this (+) that's they way the props would inter the water. But could be like this (x)
