No rooster tail here, but it runs mud like a bad mofo. Pro dives a beast!

Outboard Surface Drive

My Dad experimented with the X-dimension of our BRAND NEW Merc 80 HP outboard - not exactly sure what year, but I think about 1970 (which would put me at 6 years old). The Crosby in the picture - me on the right, Dad on the left. He raised the outdrive with blocks of wood on the transom to increase speed. The outboard was brand new. Running down the speed zone of Bass River (West Dennis, MA), I was sitting in the back seat. We heard a HUGE ROAR, then.... silence. ...as the boat came to a stop. We looked back and there was no engine. It was an anchor, connected by the steering cables. Popped off and luckily didn't flip in and chop us up.

He spent a long time flushing it out and getting it to run again. It never ran the same.

Thinking back, I guess the need for speed is hereditary.

The attached pic is on Monomy Point, MA.

I guess you can call it that, it does run shaft level. Since it has an aircooled 36hp vanguard engine, it scoots pretty well at 26mph in deep water. Didnt gps when we were in mud getting out of duck blind.

its pretty bad ass, drive rotates 180 degrees by hyd motor at push of button and power trim also. Eats up anything in its way and hops over everything else.

We sold the go-devil to get this.. no comparison, the go-devil does the job, but the pro drive is a lot easier to drive. AND has a roostertail for a lil power boat feel!!!

I had a 23 go devil surface drive someone needed more than me... Stole it. I ordered a boat from go devil and they could get it to me till after duck season. So I picked up a gator trax 17.5 and a 35 back water long shaft. I like the simple features of go devil and back water, less **** to break when it ices up(not in Louisiana) I can jump out of the hole with no water now. Nothing cooler than a rooster tail of solid mud.
