I guess I didn't realize how far off shore the boats would be. Drove down to the beach wear I live in miller place. Had 2 gopros and my phone ready to take video. Following the live feed etc. Feed shows boats passing port Jeff with 43 Ol in the lead. Get out ready to shoot n then way across the sound I see a helicopter and than see the roaster tail of the OL. Damn it lol. Good luck to all involved. Definitely rough out there sorry for no vids

The wind started blowing here on the coast (LIS Sound) around 3am from the north, around 20 mph sustained, 4 ft waves reported which means the Sound is not playing nice today. Beautiful day though.

Just heard from NPBA....All boats that started have now withdrawn.

Billy said the water was kicking up too much and that is the reason.

Gives everyone a new appreciation to just how tough these old long distance races really are to finish....never mind to win.

I checked the current Marine Weather reports and the Long Island webcams, doesn't appear it was "that rough" for this kind of event. I would like to hear from Top Banana on his thoughts of todays conditions.
