GoPro Mounting
I ordered the Garmin VIRB camera and have many months to learn it before the first boat ride. While Garmin has no where near the number of GoPro mounts it does come with an adapter that enables it to use GoPro mounts, so......Where and with what is everyone mounting their cameras to their boat.
Thanks, Padraig |
I have found the the suction cup is the best, will literally stick to just about anything. And you don't end up with a bunch of mounts stuck all over the boat.

I have had success with the suction cup mount too.
|
Are you using the Gopro suction cup or a after market brand?

Use the go pro one. It is very strong. I have used it with the Garmin and works well.

x2 for the go pro one. I mounted mine on the transom between the drives and under the water line drove around for about 30 mins and it was still there.

Be careful recording yourself one accident or screwup and the world will jump down your throat.
Probably a good rule to not have one and don't allow passengers to vid with their phone. The haters run deep even in our own sport. |
Regular single suction GoPro mount has stayed on with no issues.

I use the factory supplied go pro suction mount and have had great success on the boat, outside of cars and motorcycles.
|
I like the RAM brand go pro mounts. Have very good luck with their suction cup its much better then the go pro cup. Very versitle mounting system where all the pieces interchangable and easier to use.

+1 on the GoPro suction cup mount.

You may be correct but a long time ago I decided not to let the possibility of a lawsuit control my life. Seeing as I am 66 tomorrow....I can't see myself changing.

I think the coolest vids i have taken with my action cam have been when i used a 'handlebar mount' and attached it to the stern light pole about 2/3-3/4 of the way up. You get to see all the passengers in the shot, where the boat is going and what it really looks like to ride in a go-fast boat.
My action cam has good anti-shake so it doesnt shake too much. |
