An LT1 hooked to a bravo should be a dirt cheap performance I/O setup. Could be a kick the arse that the low end sport boat market needs.

tmmii I bet yours was the standard 350 CID 5.7L - MPI 320 hp sold by Indmar sister company per their apps but still made by Indmar for repower replacements for the I/O's using MEFI 4 or 5 controller mapped accordingly. Also it somewhat recommended to be used for I/O apps that do not have the shift interrupt system. Volvo and Bravo drives and some OMC apps.
It was a 320 lcr that had a stock ski boat tuned cefi 3 (yeah I don't know what the difference is on cefi vs mefi). It came out of a Malibu from lake Lanier that was in an accident on the road that totaled the boat on the trailer. |
I read in Tradeonly that Volvo was going to introduce
an LT-1 at the Miami Boat Show. The Vette LT-1 has a good HP/Torque curve. The Vette will really snap your neck like a big block |
Myturn its my turn (no pun intended) to ask you which Trade Only magazine month did you read that from ? I have Jan issue in my hands, seen nothing of it nor got any word about Volvo having a LT1 engine out. I take it you are referring to Soundings Trade Only if so what month and page. Just asking thanks.

I'd bet they haven't "tuned" the torque curves in any meaningful way. In fact I'd bet they all stock cams.

the package is the problem and mercury owns the drive to the package i guess this is what these guys were talking about a few weeks ago http://goo.gl/Au0Ryb

After researching for several years now, and still strongly considering building a pair of LS based marine engines, there are a few problems with the stock block when it comes to marine app. If I do build mine it will be with an aftermarket block, the stock block is notoriously oil hungry in the upper rpm ranges(ae it leaks like a sieve in the oil system) per the things I have read. Not a problem in an automotive app but for me in an engine that will run extended periods at 4000 plus rpm I would not do it. Longevity could suffer a ton. I wonder if that is why Merc has not done one yet. This is just what I have read/heard so don't flame me for it. With an aftermarket block and the correct cam it would be an impressive package in a smaller v or cat. Should be no problem to make 650-700 hp NA in a 440+ cubic inch LS

discussed the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. It may be the December issue. They don't say LT1 they say GM Gen V. |

And the oiling issue is one reason Dick Maskin of Dart designed his LS block the way he did. It would be my guess Merc is going to either work straight with GM's Direct injection program and skip the LS generation or develop something completely in house. |
called LS Next = Dart.
Even got the free T-shirt from the seminar taught by them about all of their LS stuff. The Volvo engine was most likely their V-6 direct injection engine in the trade only mag. I already seen it in person and drove the darn boat that Volvo had installed. It was listed as 2015 model year. The Volvo V-6 was impressive. |
