We almost lost them...

I don't know if I'm allowed to post this here but I'm going to try. If the mods need to delete this thread, then so be it.

My wife and I know the tragedy of losing a son, we almost lost more of our family.

A small miracle happened yesterday morning in our family. Our 28 year old son and his wife, were awoken by a stranger beating on the door at 3:00 am, only to find their home fully involved in a fire.

The two of them managed to save all three children (1,5,and 9) and the family pet before the home began to collapse.

We didnt find out until later in the day that all of them required treatment for smoke inhalation, but will be fine. Just a few more minutes, and no one would have answered the knocking at the door. But for the Grace of God we would have lost another son, a daughter in law, and three precious grandchildren.

This is a total loss for this young family. The community at large is being overwhelmingly generous with donations. Temporary housing and basic needs have been addressed.

If anyone here would like to make a donation to a good cause, I will provide the link. These kids lost absolutely everything they have and will greatly appreciate anything you feel compelled to give.

Thank You Lord for sparing the lives of this sweet family.

Please check your smoke detectors as soon as possible.

The loss of everything must be huge - but thank the Lord that all the important ones are going to be ok.

Glad everyone is OK. The Lord works in mysterious ways. :)

No insurance?

Gordo 01-27-2015 01:42 PM

Glad they got out.
You can replace stuff

You can't replace a life

They sold their home about a year ago and moved to this new community. They decided to rent for a year to get a feel for things. A small little renters policy is going to help some.

Glad to help and that everybody is safe.....my wife and I also know the pain of losing a son.

Formulabill 01-27-2015 02:57 PM

Thank goodness everyone got out without injury.

SMOKE DETECTORS, put them in your home and check them twice a year. I have been a firefighter all my adult life and can assure you these things have saved many lives. Install them and live to boat another day.

A stranger at the door at 3:00am , what's the chance of that happening . A random string of events some would say , I say the Lord has a plan for this family and it was not their time .

I have relatives that live in Lindale and have been there forever. One is a teacher I believe at a elementary school. Prayers to them and praying the road to recovery is fast.

Change your clocks?
Change your batteries!
(twice a year)

Don't throw out the old batteries. Just put a piece of masking tape on them, so you know to never put them back in a smoke detector.

being a retired fireman i have seen instance,s that did not turn out as well.thank god they all got out alive.

Sydwayz 01-28-2015 08:57 AM

Donated as well. May God continue to bless them.

Flightplan:

First I am glad they are safe. I donated as i see this kind of thing more than I want to.

Did they have functioning smoke detectors?

I am a First Responder for Air Monitoring at disasters etc. The level of detectors available now a days is so much better.

I urge all members here to check theirs and if the detector is more than 10 years old REPLACE IT.

Just want to say thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. The kids have finished any salvage that will be possible and everyones donations and support have been overwhelming. They have a lot of work to do still, but they are making progress.

We really do have some good people left in this world, and many are right here on OSO.

Thanks again.

Thank God they are all safe and good luck with them going forward , hopefully in a year or less it will be a distant memory.

Don't forget the co2 alarms either.
