Cig Skater

http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o55749-en.html

Surprised no one brought this up. I understand the AD and I take it is really is a 399V Skater but really not understanding why for the Cigarette part of it. I believe this was the one persay joint venture deal but for who and for who to sell ?

Next - Who makes the trim tabs on this Cig Skater ? I have seen them before on other 399V Skaters and that's it.

Next - I want that exact American flags on the bow sides. Who and where can I can thoses exact ones. Thanks

Next - I really do not like the winshield on this one so why not the fighter canopies in which I seen on a couple of other 399 V's. I guess it was ordered that way.

Next - can I email 2 or 3 pics to someone for posting another Skater up on this post to ask questions about thanks.

The trim tabs look Dana Marine(ish).

The owner and purchaser of the boat was a big Cig fan. He had the monetary wherewithal to create a unique machine that mixed the best of two companies. I love the boat, personally...with the exception of that horrible round hatch.

Look like Skater tabs.

TooLateVTEC 01-30-2015 09:54 AM

Email the pics to me @ [email protected] and I'll post them up.

Look at the picture where they are standing on the bow looking back at the hatch/windshield...is the hatch installed off center/crooked or is the paint wrong? I would imagine the hatch is installed wrong, and that would drive me insane.

The paint is not my taste, but to each his own. Would be a unique boat for the right buyer. And you know it will run if Peter and Skater had anything to do with it.

I wonder how stable that hull is at those speeds??? :party-smiley-004:

There have been more then just this joint venture and I hear they run pretty good.

Sweet boat!

I had these pics from many years ago on an old computer. I remember these 2 - Skater 399V were like the very first 399 Vee hull's for Skater is that correct ? If I recall this was about 12 years ago and wanted to ask were these made by Skater but the molds were from Baja ? If so the molds went back to Baja at some point and were crushed is that correct ?

Also the same trim tabs are used. Look at the top mounts and I am sure that they are not Dana's.

TooLate - thanks for posting

dmc trim tabs. dana only makes a flat plate with pieces bolted together

Donziben 01-31-2015 09:05 PM

Skater created the deck and the canopy on Cigs Kilo boat when they made an attempt at the record.

Donziben 01-31-2015 09:08 PM

Skater is still making the 399. The silver boat with diesels that recently set the record to the Bahamas is a 399.

Building a 439 right now.

Hi Guy's
It's been a long time from when I was last on this site. I've been out of performance boating for a long time and slowed down until I saw the
Skater 399V and had to have it. Its the Red one pictured above and I don't use it much. I'd don't know if anyone knows what it is worth or the best way to sell it?
It's got less than 20 hours on it and stored inside. Any help would be great. Thanks

The "Skaterette". :D Built at Skater, rigged at Cigarette.

The original 399 molds were built by skater (not Baja) for Baja that was getting ready to build a race boat. The concept fell apart and Pete decided to build the boats himself. The first one was the Spider-Man race boat Scott Conrad raced. The orange and yellow 399 shown above was built for Bruce Gibson who was the sole survivor of the Nashville Catz wreck (RIP).

Scarab105, shoot an email to Pete regarding price point. theyre fairly rare and I would say comparable to the gladiators but add a bit for the layup (epoxy I believe). Just my .02

Tank

Pretty sure Bruce bought it used. Had some big starlings in it at first and he purchased it without power.

And the Spider-Man boat didn't run very fast at first, after the strikes were changed up it came alive.

Rumor was when Baja moved to nc that there were molds in Bucyrus for the 399 and a few guys were going to start building them but I haven't heard or seen anything since.
