Can you see how things went wrong?

If I had to guess I would say it was a ferry flight and he had fuel bladders in the airplane. I would say he most likely had trouble when transferring tanks or something along those lines.

that plane has a usefull load of about a thousand forty pounds or so. With the weight of the pilot and the tanks them selves I'm guessing you'd better have some good altitude cuz your gonna be a glider the last few miles :D

Seen that on the news the other day, I'll stick with a 747 when going across.

Dave base is 2260 lbs, useful load is 1340 lbs, giving you a gross weight of 3600 lbs. Usually on a ferry flight you can take off with the airplane about 25% over FAA certified gross weight for that aircraft. So, with those numbers and a 200 lb pilot, you could carry about 2040 lbs or 340 gallons of fuel.

The plane will go 1000 miles on 80 gallons, so it would have no problem ferrying 2,500 with over 300 gallons on board...

He had aux tanks in place of the rear seats for the ferry flight. His transfer switch failed and he couldn't use the extra fuel. He knew well ahead of time he was going down, hence why the CG was on scene as he went down. Flown in the SR22 a couple times, cool plane.

Really cool plane when tricked out. Top of the line and fast.

That has to be a bad feeling!
